How to Get to the Airport
- Taxis are relatively expensive. Oftentimes, around winter and spring breaks, students will drive other students to the airport for a much smaller fee. There aren’t any very convenient public buses that go to the airport, nor are there any Trinity shuttles. A cab ride to the airport costs around $35, not including tip.
College Prowler Take
Transportation on campus is fine. If you don’t have a car, you will have friends—loving and wonderful friends, who will drive you around. There is a bus that will take you right to the mall, and Trin-Trin periodically revamps its off-campus shuttle service, so depending on how it is running any particular day, you may be able to get a free Trinity ride to the movies, the mall, the grocery store, or the small, sweet West Hartford shopping area. The cabs will get you downtown for some partying at night, and then if you hoof it to the train station (a short walk from most bars) you will find some cabs that will get you back home to your dorm. That is about all the cabs are good for. Around finals time, certain entrepreneurial Trinitron students with cars will set up shuttle services to and from Bradley International, the closest airport. Take advantage of it if you can’t get a ride from a friend. It is far cheaper than cabs, and Bradley has no shuttle services of its own. If you are trying to get to New York or Boston, the train and bus station is located directly downtown, and there are many trains (nice) or buses (cheap) a day from which you can chose.

There is a bus stop located right outside Trinity’s campus. Unfortunately, though, the bus is a slow and laborious way to get around town. However, a large number of students have cars on campus, and it is likely that a ride from someone you know is available. |

One of the nice things about being...
One of the nice things about being situated in a city is that Trinity students are able to take full advantage of the public transportation provided by Hartford. The city issues each student a UPass each semester. This gives him or her free access to all of the local Hartford buses. Students can use their passes to go to the mall, the movies, restaurants, supermarkets, or even to some of the neighboring towns. |

The public transportation is...
The public transportation is pretty good, though it’s slow. There aren’t all that many places to go in town, but there are bus stops right off Trinity’s campus, and each student gets a year-long free bus pass. Trinity also offers free shuttles around campus and the surrounding areas—downtown, the mall, the movies—which is great when it runs. |

Trinity students tend to only take the bus to Westfarms Mall and back, but they can’t really be blamed. The bus system is not mapped-out well for those not accustomed to it, and I personally have been left stranded at the Bushnell with no way to get back to campus. If you don’t have a car, the city is pretty much closed to you at night. During the day, it’s possible to walk from school to downtown, and it’s also a really pleasant walk. |
