College Prowler Take
While students normally fail to support the varsity sports in droves, the football games draw in moderate crowds. However, the intramural sports are far more popular, especially the Hallympics that are held every year. Dorms form their own teams and compete against each other for the grand prizes of T-shirts and bragging rights. There is a sense of both fun and competitiveness, and points are awarded to the most sportsmanlike teams, which further encourages students to simply compete and enjoy the games. Despite the fact that they don’t draw large crowds, Trinity varsity sports teams are very competitive. The football team was the champion of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) from 1993 to 2003. The women’s basketball team won the NCAA Division III championship in 2003. Members of the Trinity tennis team have gone on to compete at Wimbledon. The majority of the student body still seems more interested in playing flag football. This is a campus where any football game attendee with face paint will feel pretty out of place, but students who yearn to be with their own motley crew of ultimate Frisbee players will have plenty of company.

Just being the little liberal...
Just being the little liberal school that Trinity is, you won't see die-hard fans in the crowds at sporting events and sometimes you might not even see a crowd at all. There are jocks who play sports and then there is the rest of the student population. Besides those people who play sports, people couldn't care less about sports.

Intramural sports are tons of fun, especially soccer. There aren't too many options to choose from though. Nobody cares about varsity sports here

Football is pretty big as a varsity sport, and all the sports, now that I think about it, are pretty notable. We’re only in Division III, but the teams are all excellent and have a nice habit of winning. They’re fun to attend as well—football especially—and the campus doesn’t go completely insane during big wins or losses, at least not in a rioting manner on campus. As for IM sports, guy’s lacrosse seems to be the biggie, and the others don’t tend to be huge in the sense of turnout, but they’re available for those who like to play and just go out and have a good time. Ultimate Frisbee is a good example for the IM. |

The sports teams at Trinity are usually the best in their division. Sadly, the games are rarely attended, and I feel like Trinity does not have much school spirit. There was more spirit at my high school football games that at any Trinity football game that I ever saw. IM sports on campus are quite popular while you are living in the dorm or if you are a Greek. |

Trinity has a great varsity sports...
Trinity has a great varsity sports program. Just about every weekend, students can be seen at the softball, football, or baseball games, or watching one of the many tennis matches. All of the sporting events provide great alternatives to studying since the weather is normally nice. And who wouldn’t rather go drink ‘sports drinks’ and watch a game than study for that midterm coming up? IM sports are popular, too, but for different reasons. The people who love to go watch the varsity games can release their competitive urges by playing IM sports. The IM sports are really fun, and there are so many to choose from (from flag football to pool to chess) that there is something for everyone. |

Gyms and Facilities
- Outdoor Tennis Courts - Trinity practically has more tennis courts than parking spaces. There are 12 tennis courts in three places around campus. The ones closest to the Bell Center are lit up so that students can play in the evening when it is cooler.
- William H. Bell Athletic Center - The Bell Center, as it is known, is the only athletic center on campus, but because of that, Trinity tries hard to maintain it well. They spent $15 million on new fitness equipment and refurbishments. It has three floors with a dance studio and offices on the top floor and two gyms, five racquetball courts, and an athletic room on the second floor. The natatorium houses an Olympic-sized swimming pool. In the basement is another gym, more classrooms, and the weight room.

Getting Tickets
Finding tickets to any sporting event is not difficult. Because of the apathy of the student body, even the championship football team occasionally has trouble filling the stands.
Most Popular Sports
In Texas, football seems to be the only sport worth mentioning. Football and basketball are the most popular sports on campus because the teams have been so successful over the years, and because they receive so much support from the administration.
Most Overlooked Teams
The unofficial ultimate Frisbee team can usually be seen running around campus on a sunny day, and the men’s lacrosse team almost always draws a fairly big crowd (especially since attendance to the games is free). The swim team is also very strong, but they draw most of their attendance from close friends and family.
