College Prowler Take
Trinity does not have an official student union, but most students seem to congregate in the Coates University Center—after all, it’s where the food is. The athletic facilities are top-notch, relatively new, and very accommodating for athletes and non-athletes alike. The dance studio can be reserved by students who want to practice or teach lessons. The gym facilities manage to accommodate the students, although, since there is only one gym, there is sometimes a wait for a free treadmill, especially when spring break approaches. One of the running jokes on campus is that there is a ratio of one gardener to every three students, because Trinity is so well-manicured. Flowers are almost always blooming somewhere, and seldom will a day pass when maintenance men and women aren’t performing aesthetic upkeep on some area of campus. A friend of a Trinity student commented that “every time I walk onto that campus, they’re building something new.” This is not an exaggeration. Trinity is constantly building new facilities, and trying to fix the old ones to keep up with new technology, and create a comfortable campus so that parents feel justified paying the high tuition costs. Each facility that a student would want to use is well maintained and protected. Each year, something on campus either springs up or receives an upgrade and manages to please even the most discerning and pessimistic students.

The facilities on campus are all fairly nice. There is definitely a lack of study lounges and many of the freshman dormitories are in poor condition. Classrooms are all updated with newer technology. My only complaint is that the weight room at the gym is quite small and cramped.

I have absolutely no complaints. I love the library. The mural on the spiral staircase is one of my favorite things on campus. And the many cushy chairs by the windows and tucked away behind book cases are wonderful places to get some reading done. Some of the laundry facilities leave a little to be desired, but as dorms are renovated, they are making necessary changes in that area. In terms of athletic facilities, while we don't have quite as nice a personal recreation room (treadmills and elliptical machines, etc.) as other universities I have seen, the dance studio is great and I love the personal racquetball courts. We have two gyms and a pool. We have many beautiful auditoriums and stages for productions.

We only have one athletic facility, and it's small. We do however, have a ton of tennis courts for some reason.

They are very nice—different than what you would expect for a college, not so imposing, but modern and nice. They make the environment pleasant, and the school is in a beautiful part of town. |

The facilities on the whole are fairly nice. The student center is architecturally modern, and provides ample space for students to convene and socialize or study together. For students without computers, there are plenty of public computers to use in the student center and the renovated library. The athletic center is great because there are many areas that cater to any athletic interest, including aerobics, dance, racquetball, swimming, basketball, squash, and weightlifting. |
FactsWhat To Do on Campus
If you’re worried about gaining weight, there are several athletic facilities to utilize. Students can work out in the gym and swim in the indoor or outdoor Olympic-sized pools. There are two jogging trails (although the old one is now used more frequently for hooking up), but if you’re not into physical activity, you can relax at the coffee shop with friends, or play video games on a big-screen TV while having a drink in the Tiger’s Den, where you can also play pool and chess. You could watch a football game in the fall or start a game of ultimate Frisbee. Students can also view the breathtaking wildflowers behind the library, or just hole up in their rooms and take advantage of the super-fast computer network.
Favorite Things To Do
Trinity shows at least three major theatrical productions a year, as well as several student-run shows throughout each semester. In the spring, students organize the Chocolate Festival, which features a bake-off, a piñata, T-shirts, music, and chocolate pudding wrestling. They also celebrate with an Earth Day festival with a variety of activities from tie-dying to painting and creating recycled paper. Trinity has an award-winning athletic program, including a football team that consistently wins the SCAC championship, and a women’s basketball team that made it to the finals and won in 2003. Tickets are readily available for students for all games, both home and away. The Tiger’s Den often throws events on Friday nights, from screening and performing the Rocky Horror Picture Show to hosting karaoke contests and live bands. At Christmas time, the Trinity choir combines their outstanding talent with that of the orchestra to perform at the annual Christmas concert. The music program at Trinity is strong and provides fantastic training for the musically inclined. In return, they consistently stage concerts that please the student body and other visitors.
