Part of the reason that the Trinity campus is referred to as “the Bubble” is because of the safety that comes along with living there. Very seldom are there any real problems on campus, and sometimes, the most interesting part of the campus newspaper is the “Campus Security Briefs,” which have included tales of cafeteria employees walking into poles or tripping over food products. There is little vandalism, even less theft, and many students never bother locking their doors. The Trinity Department of Campus Safety (DCS) is very lax when it comes to dealing with the students. If they spot an underage drinker wandering around campus, they are more likely to make sure that the person can find his or her way home, rather than report them. Even the drug policy is flexible. In the rare likelihood that you are caught doing drugs, you will not go before the city police. Instead, you’ll face a student court who will likely assign you a few hours of community service and sternly warn you to “pass on grass.”

Although they do not harass the students, DCS is a presence on campus, and most students never feel afraid to take a walk or jog at any time of the night. For those who are a little more timid, there is an escort service available. And not only are you provided with the comfort of knowing you will get to your dorm in a timely fashion and not risk walking across campus alone, but you’ll also get to ride in those, little golf carts. Overall, DCS is great at what they do. They sternly, but compassionately, create an atmosphere where students can, and often do, take their personal safety for granted.

Cars are broken into a few times... Cars are broken into a few times per semester. People come in and steal laptops from the library and classroom buildings. I feel safe on Trinity's campus,... I feel safe on Trinity's campus, but crime has gone up in the last two years.
