Campus is absolutely beautiful! I love the brick work and the architecture of the buildings. It looks beautiful in all seasons and is a great size.

The school offers almost every sport possible. However, this is an academic school, so the sports are not at a professional level and are more just for fun and to stay in shape.

There are several choices for off campus dining. Several ethnicities are represented, including Greek, Japanese, Chinese, Mexican, and Italian foods. There are a couple of chain restaurants, several family restaurants, and almost every basic fast food restaurant. Prices are great and many restaurants offer a student discount, especially on Sunday, when the dining halls do not serve dinner.

Yeah...Truman is not known for their sports...especially not for football.

I LOVE TRUMAN!!! I had been super nervous about going to school, but I couldn't be happier with where I'm at. It's a small campus, where you are bound to run into someone you know almost everywhere you walk. The longest walk on campus is about 15 he minutes, which is walking from OP to Barnett. The students are friendly and so are the professors. I don't even find the food that bad. Kirksville is small, but it has grown on me. Many organizations to get involved in. Definitely would recommend Truman to anyone who likes having a tight-knit community.

Health & Safety:
Truman has a small campus built in the center of a rural Midwestern community, it's the epitome of safety. I rarely lock my car and have walked across campus after dark many times and have never worried for my personal safety.

The library at Truman is my favorite space on campus. Not only is it aesthetically elegant, with a brick interior and airy skylights, it is also comfortable and cozy with plenty of quiet niches and group study tables to fit any and all study needs. Plus the added bonus of a coffee shop for when students need a quick break and recharge.

Computer labs on campus are scattered and throughout campus and convenient to reach, but they are usually small and crowded. If you are willing to walk from building to building looking for empty computers then it's not difficult to eventually find a free space.

Fraternities and Sororities at Truman have a reputation for being laid back and low key. They aren't especially exclusive and many non-Greek members participate in their parties and other activities.

Truman is one of two large universities in the small town of Kirksville, so landlords have realized what a cash cow providing housing is. Finding apartments and houses for rent is never a problem, the only downside is since Kirksville is a low income community most rental houses are run down and many neighbors are unfortunately sketchy.

Know who will teach your classes before you choose a major. Some classes might sound fascinating but professors are sometimes a turn-off.

I love the library! It has such a good collection!

Parking is a hassle sometimes. My friends giving me ride to Walmart often get frustrated with that!

I think I really benefited from the Writing Center in the campus. Also, the small size classes are good opportunity to get to know your professor well.

I'm no fan of athletics. But I see a lot of fuss all over the campus everyday. Even a lot of my friends are good athletes.

There aren't any. I'm elaborating just because I can't continue yet...

Guys & Girls:
The notorious 'Truman scale' for judging female (and male, I suppose) attractiveness begins with a 10 being where the 5 in the normal scale lies. That being said, I don't really have a problem with it. People always seem to look nicer when the weather isn't forcing you to wear five million layers over your skimpy tanktop, though.

Everything at this school is high quality. Sometimes the registration can be very difficult however.
College Sophomore 2013-07-05T10:29:50Z
There are different parties that are fun that take place, but this school is very tied into academics.
College Sophomore 2013-07-05T10:28:07Z
It is very interesting, although at times some of the required courses don't seem to tie into the major.

They can be slow at times and on some of the computers the network is down at times.

Kirksville is a very small college town. You kind of have to find your own way to entertain yourselves. There's only so many times you can go to the bowling alley before it gets boring. Most people end up going to Wal-Mart late at night because it's one of the few things that are open for minors. The townies aren't very friendly most of the time.
College Senior 2013-07-05T07:21:33Z
I'm not really sure on this subject because I haven't broken school policies. I know that the police are very quick to give out MIP's. I've heard that being on academic probation isn't too terrible unless you don't try terribly hard to bring up your grades.

The dining halls are definitely the most convenient, but they don't always have the best options. Sometimes there are some very strange options like shrimp po boys and and odd pizza types. Usually, you can find something that's safe to eat, though. They always had a fairly good variety. The SUB always had good options, but it's also more expensive. The SUB is good for occasional eating or else you will run out of money quickly. If you live in a dorm with a dining hall, get more meals than dining dollars. Trust me, it's worth it.
College Senior 2013-07-05T07:10:11Z
Truman has a lot of available apartments. Most of the apartments are fairly cheap and the leases start in May or August. Even if you get an apartment in May, you'll still have it for a few days after graduation, so that isn't a worry. There are a lot of apartments close to campus. My landlord isn't the best, though, and sometimes doesn't fix things in a timely manner or not at all.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
