Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Tufts is in New England, so you’re going to get weather from all seasons. It is really hot from May to August, extraordinarily rainy in March and April, and pretty much cold and snowy the rest of the year. Fall semester, it will snow probably just a few times, but despite the name, “spring” semester is much, much colder, and students will return to campus to see it covered in snow. Don’t be surprised to see it snowing in April and even May.

The good news is that the campus is so beautiful that all seasons are pleasant (to an extent, of course), even if they’re not always comfortable. If you are looking for warm weather year-round, obviously Tufts isn’t for you. To survive, a sense of humor about the weather is all it takes. Feel free to make jokes about the occasional floods from all the rain or how Tufts is too cheap to air condition the dorms. And when it snows, feel free to grab a sled, a dining hall tray, or even your roomate’s mattress, and go sledding down the President’s Lawn!

Bring a Jacket. or Two. or Three. and Scarves and Hats, Too.

it's cold. like real cold. but you'll be fine if you bundle up. Up until halloween though, the weather is usually incredible and amazing.

Word of advice: in the middle of winter, wear long underwear. it's thin and warm.

Bundle up!

Weather is miserable for about 75% of a student's time. The summer months are enjoyable in Boston though.
