Most of the people here are just showing up until they get their loan checks, nothing more.
College Senior 2013-12-02T15:50:57Z
The majority of the people who "attend" this school are nothing more than thugs. They fight and carry on constantly. They thumb their noses at the dress code and no one says a thing. They are not fit to attend this school, let alone enter the work force in a medical setting. They attend long enough to get a check from their student loans then they disappear.

Tuition & Financial Aid:
They have no knowledge of the state's financial aid. They only deal with FAFSA. They have given me information on scholarships that no longer participate with the school. I have wasted much time and energy on scholarship applications that were not applicable to me. They take their time in giving you the money that you request from your loan for your personal expenses. My student loan debt will be much greater because they are only interested in getting their money, not helping you.

My credits will not transfer to another school. That is a big downside to attending my school.

Printers constantly jam, no toner, computers slow, not enough computers for amount of students.

They help to find work, even after graduation. Their policy lets them help you find jobs in your area for up to 3 years after you graduate, and resume and job training.

They contacted me very promptly to create my schedule an get me the financial aid options, including filling of the FAFSA. They helped make everything easy for a stay at home mom, like myself, to go back to school, and have a flexible courses to work around my mommy time.

Tuition & Financial Aid:
I wish that the financial aid assisted with a little more

I love how you take classes only needed for your completion of degree, its almost like attending a vocational school. You don't have to take all those extra math, English or science classes that you may never use anyway
College Senior 2013-11-16T17:35:35Z
I can make my own schedule and have access to the teacher, classmates, and tutoring services or what ever I need 24/7

They are so many ways to be interacted, its more flexible than a traditional classroom.

I am going for Medical office and Billing Specialist, which will be a great career opportunity for me, it is like two majors in one and would fit my needs better

It's great, everyone is there to help you succeed, a person just has to want to succeed.

I am taking online courses with UMA. They have a great support team on every aspect to be expected

This school has great resources even after graduation

I don't know any of the students all that well, as this is an online course but by interacting ith them you get to know them a little, we have discussions we do ,and we have to post several discussion on other students topics each night, you can only do one per day and I think they require one by Wednesday and something like 4 by Sunday and at least one to your professor, I sometimes post and interact more than that all depending on the topic. They all seem very nice, alothough I have not interacted with all of them, sometimes I don't have the time, but we have a student lounge where if a student is having a problem, they ask other students for information and as I do the same, we can learn from our peers, and it is very helpful, because some of these topics are very challenging.

At first as I had stated previously, as bing an older person and have not been in any type of schooling since 1976, all the jobs I have done in my lifetime have been in Retail, waitressing, factory's, I did work for a call center for several years doing data entry, billing, filing and answered multi-phone lines, never have I worked in the Medical or Insurance field, so this is all new to me. Since I knew nothing about the Medical or Insurance field the first week was very overwhelming for me. I actually almost talked myself into withdrawing the first week because I didn't think I could do it, than I was amazed at how well my grades were. The first week I got a B plus, but before I even knew my grade, when I called my student advisor and discussed with her that I wanted to withdrawl she could not understand why. She informed me my grades were awesome I had a B-Plus and she could understand if I were getting a D or F, so of course she talked to me for over an hour and talked me into continuing my schooling which now I am grateful that I did, because like I stated earlier anyone can achieve their goals and succeed if you put your mind to it and you do all the footwork. The first week I had put 35 class hours in and they didn't require that much time, i can't really remember what she said about the hours that maybe they only ask that you put something like 20 hours a week in and here I was working day and night from 8 or 9 am to sometimes 3am every day. Now that I am in my 5th week and still maintaing a B-Plus I have been able to organize and get into a routine, and after I did that it has not been so bad, I'm not on the computer or reading 24-7. In these last few weeks I have been able to take a day or two off, enjoy spending time with my boyfriend, taking my dog a walk on the beach, and even having all my assignments done on some weeks by Thur instead of at the deadline on Sunday. So with that being said I am glad I did not withdrawl from school now that I am more organized and can go through my roadmap outlined for each student, I find it easier to get the easiest assignments out of the way, and get my two discussion posts done by Monday or Tue and the Keyboarding comes easy to me and only takes about 5- 10 minutes to do if that, I get that all out of the way than I usually work on my Medical Terminology assignments first because they come easier to me than the Insurance. So now I am not stressed anymore because the first two weeks I stressed myself out which made it seem harder and I kept telling myself I can't do this, its to hard, I give up, but my boyfriend kept on me and kept encouraging me that I was very smart and I can do this, so thanks to him and all his encouragment believing in me when I didn't believe in myself I am no longer stressed, in fact I really enjoy doing this course learning all the Medical Terminology about anatamy and all the Privacy Act Laws in The Insurance Handbook which is alot to learn and yes I still struggle with the Insurance part of this course but I am putting more effort into that subject just because it seems to be the hardest part for me when I thought the "medical Terminology" would be the hardest. I surprised myself and I am now proud of myself as well for continuing and not quiting, because in the end of this course, the outcome will have many great oppurtunities to me, and I may furthur my career to achieve more for myself. I have never had to transfer a credit as I had stated this is the first time doing online classes.

I have never went to college or attended an online course before so I am not sure I understand the meaning of post-grad services. They have a wonderful career center and have alot of different options on finding a career, they have many resources in "Medical Field" thats why I chose UMA. They also informed me they are in contact with several Medical Facilities they can and will set you up with interviews, but it is up to the student after graduation if they set you up for an interview to make it to the interview. I took it that they have many job fields in many different areas, as I am sure alot of students doing an online course does not live in the State they are in, like myself. But I find this is a great field and there are probably alot of areas they work with in The medical field and the opputinty is yours if you want to reach your goals, they have a big network and are willing to help you if your willing to put the work and effort into your schooling, and if I or anyone strives to succeed than your possiblities are endless but it will be up to you or the student to also do the footwork. I find The instructors, the finance department, advisors and anyone else at UMA to be very helpful and would like nothing but to see a student reach their goals and succeed in this bussiness.

As stated above I think I just about covered most of it. The class registration was a long process but in order to evaluate the student, they need to get alot of information and they were very professional and very polite. Like I stated in the above statement, I do have a heavy workload because it is a 10 month course and full-time online class and its back to back weekly. I started in the beginning of October and am now in my 5th week and I graduate on August 3rd, 2014 and I only get one break between that time of 10 days during Christmas and New Years and than its back to back till I graduate, so its time consuming and alot of hard work, but anyone can do anything if they set their mind to it and in the first week it was very overwhelming for me as I am in my 50's. It took me a couple weeks to get adjusted and organized to now I can have time for my family and other things I enjoy doing and everthing else that goes along with maintaining a household. There are alot of programs they offer online students and advise you to utilize these tools because they can be helpful in your studies. When doing an essay, there are many tools you can use if looking it up in your textbook or using a website to find information on assignments and essays, but always state in your essay where you got your information from, I may use some of what I find on the website or my textbooks and than I put the essay or assignment in my own words. My professor has been very understanding, for example if I had submitted an assignment but realized I may have done the wrong one or was not clear on if I did it right, I immediately call my professor and most times she will work with you and let you resubmit the essay or assignment which I think is wonderful, but I don't wait 3 days or a week than call her and say I don't think I did this correctly, I immediately get in touch with her via email or by phone and she is very appreciative of that, that is what your professor or student advisor is there for. Never just do an essay or assignment knowing you didn't do it right and let it go, always make that phone call or via email contact your professor immediately and they will work with you thats what I like so much about UMA, they actually care that your doing good, in fact they want you to succeed and reach your goals.

Each wekk they give you a Roadmap for that week on what chapters to read, I have the workbooks needed for me to read and do exercises in the workbook, I find it helpful to do these exercises, if I read them and than write down the meaning of each subject it helps me to remember better, especially when it comes to the open book tests. They give you videos to watch as well as a CD on Medical Terminology to do exercises to help you pronounce the Terms of components, roots, prefixes, suffixes and by doing these exercises it does help if you write the meaning of each one of them, because by doing so you are able to remember them. I have a heavy workload because it is a full-time course and back to back. They give you alot of tools to utilize, fore example keyboarding exercises which you have test on each week as well, Highlights/Summary's to read as well which is very helpful. I do 2 discussion post that is due on Wednesday and 5 to 6 assignments and several tests due on Sundays. They also have Educational Activities that is very helpful in your learning. I put alot of time into my work for I want to succeed in this, I am in my 5th week and have maintained a B-Plus and they even call you to see how your doing and to tell you how good your doing as well, right now I am only 2 points away from getting an A which is a 4.0 GPA which I am really excited about. I chose to do Medical Coding and Billing because there will always be "Healthcare" jobs available and the pay is good in the long run, and eventually this is something you can do from home, but I would like to get a job working in at a physicican's office, hospital or even and insurance company to learn more on this course.

I enjoy it very much, I am not working at this time so I put in alot of hours into my online courses, I have never experienced in-class room just the online course I am taking. I have a heavy workload since I am enrolled in a full-time online course which is back to back, Monday to Monday. The registration process was good, although I misuderstood about the pell grant whick I do not have to pay back, but I thought that would be sent to me to use for any items I may need since I am not working, I was not offered any financial aide, which I thought I would get, but I obvisously didn't understand the concept of it, as this is the first time doing online schooling. i interact with my professor on subjects I have problems with and she has been a great help as well as my student advisor. The student relationships are nice to have as you can discuss your course with other students if you are having problems in certain areas, and you can learn from your peers and I utilize that alot, but we also do online discussion assignments which we interact with the other students for comments and to help each other out as well. There are many resources available to us as I have stated previously and find to be very helpful in my studies.

I am not attending on campus schooling, I am doing a 10 month oline course and there are alot of resources I utilize. Student advisor availabilty, online tutoring, student lounge course questions, also have classroom disscussions with other online students. They have a library that is available for online students, as well as chat with your school instructor on certain days if you are having problems, and its like a classroom discussion, they give you a phone number to call and a code so you can interact with your instructor and other online students. There are many resources as I stated above that are available for online students use.

As I stated above I am doing online courses and do not have access to the campus or go to in class schooling, I do a full course online class only.
