We have many apartments. We also have houses that students over 22 or a senior can get.

There are people from everywhere in my school. They are mostly christian but there are other religions as well.

Very Christian-focused school with lots of volunteer opportunities. New science building and renovated PA building.

If you are a Huskers fan, this is the place for you. If not, there is not a lot to do in Lincoln. Two malls, several theaters, and that's about it. Lots of homeless people.

There are few scholarships presented for incoming freshman or transfer students other than the incoming merit based scholarships. Of course there isn't much that new students do to receive scholarships based on progress in their major's, however, if there were at least scholarships for most, if not all, of the elective classes, that would definitely be more helpful.

It's fairly good. It can be a littles slow at times.

Most of the professors at Union College are highly interested in the students developing dynamically (academics, social life, spiritual life, diet and exercise, etc.). They are willing to spend extra time with you on coursework and try to provide appropriate feedback. Several teachers are known for inviting groups of students to their houses for vespers, food, or time away from the dorm life. Despite the overall healthy student life, there are some frustrating aspects of a small college (less than 1,000). For example, office hours and timing of courses for various departments may not be convenient for student schedules.

In order to receive full admittance into Union's education program, you must take a test called the PPST. This test evaluates your basic skills that are considered necessary building blocks of becoming a teacher at any grade level. Before graduating, you must take two more tests (PRAXIS) that demonstrate your prepared ness. I did not have any problems passing the PPST (however, I do well on standardized tests). I am still preparing for the PRAXIS. Aside from the tests, you must also submit several recommendations and paperwork (transcript, etc.) and be interviewed. Basically, the teachers want to know a little bit about your personality before they admit you to the program.

Senior education students at Union are required to fulfill a semester of "Student Teaching". During that time, you pay full tuition and are not allowed to have a job. You are matched with one or more professionals in high school, middle school, or elementary school who will facilitate your growth in experience with teaching certain subjects or grade levels. Basically, you are paying the school in order to let you teach under supervision. I have not done student teaching yet, but I've heard that it is very hard because of time demands and that you may be with a teacher who is very critical of your developing skills. This semester I am going to be a Teacher's Assistant/Tutor in the math department: I hope that it helps me find a good placement for student teaching.

I am a Secondary Education--Mathematics major, and I am excited to graduate and look for a job. I think Union College has plenty of resources to assist me when the time comes, and there is definitely a need for math teachers. Union does a great job with providing hands-on experience before students graduate. Also, on the off-chance that I end up not being able to find a job as a math teacher, I could come back to school with Union's Guaranteed Education program (free tuition for two years). If I could have changed anything about my college experience, I would have started my major as undeclared. Instead, I ended up spending my Freshman year taking some of the hardest science classes offered, and then switching my major to math.

The education program at Union involves a lot of writing courses and hands-on observation hours. As a Secondary Education major, I get to practice teaching classes to my peers as well as to the grade levels in which I'm interested. Union offers student teaching placements in Lincoln Public Schools and many private institutions. I enjoy the program because my professors take a genuine interest in my success. They are encouraging, supportive, and structured. One thing that I find frustrating, though, is scheduling classes that are only offered at select times. I will be graduating late because of scheduling difficulties.

I love the ethnic restaurants in Lincoln! There are plenty of diverse options within close driving distance, and a handful within walking distance. My favorite restaurant is just a few minutes away and it serves amazing Greek food. The city even has a small district of international markets, so you can get food imported from all over the world. Not bad for a city the size of Lincoln!

In Lincoln we have varied weather. We had snow in the middle of May this year. The summers are pretty hot and humid, and the winters are cold and usually snowy. Don't expect classes to be cancelled due to weather though; that has happened only 3 times in my three years here.

Parking on campus is pretty difficult especially during the school year. Since I park in the guys parking lot, finding a parking spot that is close can be a chore. usually I have to park farther out from the main part of campus.
College Sophomore 2013-07-18T02:55:22Z
Most of the time at Union during the school year, people are mainly in their rooms studying or in little groups around campus studying. It is mainly on the weekends that people are out and hanging out. During the summer and the vacations, most everyone is home for the break.

Guys & Girls:
At the school I attend at Union College in Lincoln Nebraska, you will find different types of guys: guys that like sports, music, computers and math. Some of the girls at my school seem stuck up, while most of them are really friendly. Most everyone will accept you for who you are and won't care about where you come from

Guys & Girls:
As in every school, there are a always some guys and girls that are not friendly, but the majority is. In Union College kindness is seen everywhere. Because most students from Union College are international and out-of-state, we all feel like a little family and do our best to make everyone feel accepted.

In Union College the staff and administration help a lot when registration comes and they make everything so easy and not confusing. The classes are given by professors that care for the students' learning and they even stay after class to answer questions. The school offers study sessions and they have the Teaching Learning Center with tutors ready to help you.

Health & Safety:
The student health center is always available when you need it. The physician announced with anticipation the days she is going to be available and the appoinments are easy to arrange with her. The safety at Union College is really good, because there are always the safety guards passing by the whole day. And the safety guards go with you when you are walking at night. I feel safe at my school.

As the only Chemistry major from my incoming freshman year classmates in the school, I have the best attention from the chemistry professors. They help me in everything that they can. Because my professors know me very well, they helped me find my job for the academic year. I worked in the stockroom from the chemistry department, and I liked helping others and arranging all the used chemicals. I love my school, because it is small and there are better chances to meet everyone. Everybody is friendly and kind even the professors and the president of the school. I can say college for me is going great and definitely the best experience I've ever had.

I have been very happy with the campus housing at Union. Resident Assistants are helpful, fun and creative, and the Deans are always on call! Rooms are plenty big, comfortable beds, and fun dorm breakfasts and Bible studies are available!
Sorry, there are no reviews.
