Sometimes campus security can be strict, but that is their job. Just don’t do anything too outrageous and too obnoxious, and they won’t mess with your good times. People realize early on that, for the most part, if you’re drinking quietly, you won’t attract attention, but if you’re blasting music and taking shots with half-naked coeds, you’re going to get caught.

It is easier to avoid security off campus, but then you have to deal with the Schenectady Police, which is far worse. They’ve recently become a much larger force to be reckoned with, especially early in the year when they’re trying to “make examples out of students.” The school also enacted a new policy called the “Good Samaritan” policy that doesn’t subject intoxicated students to disciplinary action, so long as students help each other out. The policy clearly is geared towards making sure students are safe, but are still allowed to have a good time.

Campus Security

If you don't bother them they won't bother you. The campus security officers are for the most part fairly nice and won't go out of their way to get you into trouble. As long as you don't do anything to disturb the peace they don't have a problem with you.

Greek Life

Greek life is a huge part of Union College's social life and atmosphere. As the mother of fraternities, the college knows they can't shut it down, so basically anything goes. It takes a lot to get in huge trouble with the school. Just be smart about it and even though they are cracking down a little bit it does not look like Union will go dry anytime soon.

Fair

Union is fair. As long as you are not harming yourself or another or Union property they are not very strict. As long as you are respectful there will not be severe punishment. However if you destroy union property or are disrespectful you will be punished. We have a point system. If you reach around 10 points you will be kicked out.
