Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

The overall contention here is that incoming students should bring their own computers. Although there are numerous places around campus to do your work at a computer, there are those occasions when finding an open terminal is tough. This usually happens around midterms and finals when everyone is scrambling to get their work finished and print it out. Some helpful hints would be to check out Olin and the basement of the social sciences building if you want to print something out, but do not always count on finding an open computer at all hours of the day.

By bringing your own computer, you’ll be able to save yourself a lot of time trying to find a computer in the labs. The best feature of most labs is that they allow you to print for free. Another hint is to try not to get too hooked on the Internet. With such speedy access at your command (the network is very quick), you will be tempted to just pop online in between classes and while doing homework. An hour can seem like five minutes when you have the world at your fingertips!

Computers Have Greatly Improved

Computers have greatly improved since the new Wold building was established in 2011. Now there are great computers available in the Wold building, which include a lot of PCs as well as Macs. Not only does the new building provide it, but there are at 6 computer labs located throughout the campus for students to use. It truly is amazing and its rarely ever crowded.

One complaint would be the wireless. It's pretty decent until night time arrives and the internet just becomes ridiculously slow. The school definitely needs to improve internet speed on the campus.

Comps at Union

I don't usually use the school computers because I use my own laptop but the ones I have used are pretty good. Some are slow but not too bad. The wifi network is fast and you connect from all over campus. You need a laptop because its so much easier and professors assign things you need a computer for and I use it to take notes in class.
