Off-campus restaurants are there-you just have to know where to look. Knowledge of the non-Union eateries comes with experience and an intense desire to escape the monotony of Dutch and Upperclass dining halls. Having a car is a plus when it comes to eating out, but places like Ambition, Peter Pause, the Van Dyck, and Pinhead Susan's are within walking distance. For the most part, Union's surrounding area provides at least a dozen excellent options for eating elsewhere.

If you are willing to travel a little farther for your food, you can head over to Saratoga or Albany where there are tons of wonderful little gems that can fill your tummy. You may have to borrow a friend's car or wait until you can have your own on campus (freshmen are not allowed cars) to get to some of the most scrumptious places around Schenectady, Latham, and Albany. It really isn't that big of a deal because you can always find something.
