Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

There are so many options available for students who want to live off campus. Junior year is usually when people begin to live independently from the College, but with the new housing system coming into effect soon, off-campus living may no longer be an option. Ideally, Union is looking to house all of its students on campus within the next year or so. Already landlords are having a hard time renting their apartments for next year because of the new system.

However, Union is starting to claim a number of streets and properties adjacent to the college. These streets are noted as “on campus” when in actuality they are off campus. But with the school making it more and more difficult for students to live in non-college-owned apartments, finding off-campus housing may soon become a defunct process at Union. It definitely will be a shame if Union makes it so that students can’t choose their apartments for their junior or senior years.

Very Good Quality

Whether you choose to live in one of the Union-owned off campus houses or one of the very cheap houses rented through others, the houses are really nice and not far off of campus at all. It's a very nice option for upperclassmen.

Not Typical

Off campus housing is rare. Most upperclassmen decide to live in Minerva houses or College Park. The ones that do live off campus seem to have a good time. However, they generally are not that safe since you see incident reports on the school newspaper on how the houses get robbed by locals from Schenectady.

Off-Campus Housing

There don't seem to be a lot of apartments nearby Union but Union offers theme housing and off campus housing. The homes are beautiful and in great condition. They are almost right on campus and very convenient. They are no more expensive to live in then any other housing option Union has. They have a great home feel to them and everyone who lives in them loves them.
