Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

The parking on campus is atrocious, and the school doesn’t seem to be making it a priority anytime in the near future. It is still worth it, though, to have a car (after freshman year, of course), even if you do get a ticket every time you try to park anywhere near Reamer Campus Center.

Another problem with parking on campus is that campus safety has no communication with one another as to when parking is okay in an area and when it’s not. For example, while the main office says it’s okay to park in the staff parking lot after 6 p.m., some officers still give you a ticket. Parking needs serious work at Union.

Nothing Horrible

As a small school, there is not much parking at Union. Freshmen are not supposed to bring cars, but some do. Parking permits are not terribly expensive, but there is limited parking once everyone is back for the night. Be careful to park only in student parking lots, though, because Campus Safety officers love to ticket students.

Great Parking

There are plenty of places for students to park on campus. I have never heard of a student getting ticketed or fined. The need for a car on campus is not very necessary. There are plenty of activities to engage in on campus. Great places to eat in Schenectady are walking distance from the campus. Also, there is a shuttle that goes to and from Walmart, Crossgates mall, and Union College

Parking Is Rare at Underclassmen Dorms but Theres Plenty for Upperclassmen

Around the underclassmen dorms there is limited parking. Freshmen are not allowed to have cars. Around the upperclassmen residential areas parking is always available except during hockey and football games. Parking permits are cheap too.
