Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

The campus trolley is usually around to run students wherever they want to go around campus. It keeps certain hours of operation, however, so don’t expect the trolley to come bail you out of the long walk home from Rupsis at 4 a.m. Parking is atrocious around campus, but it is definitely worth it to have a car, even just to get away from the sometimes stifling intimacy that is Union.

If you need to go far away, there is a bus and train station located within a three-minute drive of the College. A weekend in NYC? No problem! Going back to Boston for turkey day? Sure, just hop on a bus. For those longer excursions, Albany International Airport is also at your service. The drive takes about 15 minutes. Students are lucky to have these major travel outlets at our disposal, and every student will want to utilize them at some point in their Union career. Getting a friend to drive you to the Albany station (for either Greyhound or Amtrak) will save you about an hour of time due to a layover in Albany, and about 10 dollars. Avoid a night bus from Schenectady; it’s just a bit sketchy.

Shuttles

The transportation is pretty good. There's a shuttle that takes you to shopping malls off campus and to Wallmart. This operates on Wednesdays and Saturdays several times.

Excellent

The college operates a 24/7 trolley that continually circles throughout the entire campus on a regular schedule. You can even check it's exact GPS position at any time on Union's website. Most days buses and trolleys run back and forth from Wal-Mart, shopping plazas, and the mall. If you need to go somewhere close to the college, you can call Campus Safety and they'll drive you. You can also call the trolley whenever you want.

Take it right from Schenectady. NYC trains will be on time usually, but Boston trains are always late. At least two hours on average. You can also save a few bucks by getting a friend to drive you to Albany to get the train there. It is a 10-minute walk from campus.
