Cadets agree that the West Point is probably the strictest campus in the world. There are numerous rules and regulations designed to promote uniformity and discipline. It is everyone's responsibility to ensure that cadets adhere to standards. Your fellow cadets will not find it funny if you continually fall out of line, let alone what your administrators will think. If one cadet falls out, then others will too, and this makes for an uncomfortable situation with the hierarchy. The entire campus is geared toward order. Anyone who is not entirely complacent makes himself an immediate nuisance.
According to most cadets, as long as you always work hard and listen to authority, you will be alright. There are numerous checks and balances in place that make it difficult for someone to get away with not following the rules. For example, if you are either late to class or fail to keep your room up to standard, you will more than likely be disciplined. The level of strictness is extreme at West Point. By signing on to be a cadet, you basically kiss your right to privacy good-bye. There are routine inspections and drug tests, and a failure to play by the Academy's rules will not be tolerated.
