There are a large variety of restaurants to enjoy that are located just minutes from campus. The Albany area offers a large selection of cuisine, such as Chinese, Japanese, Italian, Indian, French, and continental. Some great restaurants in the area include Gandhi, Ichiban, the Ginger Man, Provence, and the Bayou Café. At some of these locations, you can find nights where they have great specials. The Albany area also has every fast food and chain restaurant you can think of such as Friday’s, Wendy’s McDonald’s, Taco Bell, Friendly’s, Outback Steak House, the Olive Garden, and Chili’s. Some great places that deliver right to the dorms include Wang’s Kitchen, Domino’s, Paesan’s Pizza, and Madison’s Subs and Wings. If you’re from downstate New York, and know what a pizza should really taste like, then the pizza in Albany may disappoint you. For the best pizza in town, check out Paesan’s. In a place like Albany, there really is everything and anything for the college student’s taste buds.

There is a selection of restaurants within walking distance of UA, which is highly beneficial to freshmen who aren't allowed to have cars. On Western Avenue, there is Boston Market and Across the Street Pub, which offer food at cheap prices for the cash-strapped students. If you're looking for a higher-end restaurant, Barcelona is a nice Spanish restaurant that offers a lot of food with its price tag.

There are a lot of good restaurants off campus. The Cheesecake Factory is one of the favorites. Delmonico's Steakhouse is also very good. Both of these restaurants are on the pricier side but definitely worth it.
