Transportation is often available, but not convenient for timely matters. Often running very slow, the bus services are not reliable means of transportation to get anywhere quickly.

Health & Safety:
The community does a great job at maintaining a safe and secure location on campus. Rarely do students feel threatened or at risk of danger with the security measures taken around campus.

The police do a good job keeping the peace, and are often quick to respond to situations. They hold the students to a high standard and expect that it reflect through their behavior.

Student life is extremely concentrated at UA. Between the extremely heavy Greek life and countless other organizations it is hard NOT to be involved. Generally, students share a deep sense of pride and excitement over sporting events and are very supportive of other clubs and organizations as a whole.

Guys & Girls:
While I love the environment and the overall pride of campus, it is very easy to get lost in the mass population. Many students also have an air of entitlement, which may stem from the pride of the community itself.
College Sophomore 2013-10-15T21:45:53Z
There are often many options when it comes to nightlife at UA. Most centers around Greek life, however everyone is welcome at the bars and rarely to people feel excluded if they are independent in these party scenes.

My school is unique because it harbors so much tradition, which is not something that many schools can still attest to. The University of Alabama boasts its rich tradition, often seeming a bit stubborn when it comes to updating policies and rituals, however, it is its pride and deeply rooted history that make it such a prime location for generations to confide in and rely on year after year.

The advisors aren't much of a help and I don't like that almost everything you do is online. I feel like I could be doing the same stuff at an online community college and save a lot more money.

Academics are not a focus for a lot of people on campus, but Alabama is really stepping up their game when it comes to academics. The Honors Program provides a great support system for the students. They even give all the honors students one of the nicest dorms. If you want to succeed, the school will give you the opportunity to push yourself.

The Business School is one of the best programs at Alabama. You know what is required of you for the lower and upper divisions. There is a nice business library and the other buildings aren't bad either. People in the business school are generally a part of greek life or driven for success. There are also a ton of business clubs and organizations, including Alpha Kappa Psi, a nationally known business fraternity.

Tuscaloosa might not be the biggest city, but it is one of the most unique I've ever been to. We have three different downtowns (the Strip, Tuscaloosa, and Northport), all with different shops, restaurants, museums, and theaters to offer. There is a beautiful riverwalk and a preserve called Moundville, a former location of various Native American tribes that hosts festivals and year round. There is always something to do on campus, and game day weekends are insane and steeped in culture, tradition, and rowdiness. There isn't too much mixing with local residents because of Tuscaloosa's relatively small size; the campus dominates the north side of town.

Alabama weather is hot. In August, walking to class between 11 and 3 is miserable. But, since final exams are over during the first weekend in May, August is really the only time you have to deal with bad weather, with the exception of the risk of tornado, which is a heavy worry on campus.

The police here are known for lessening sentences for minor offenses like MIPs and use of fake IDs. I personally think they could be a little stricter to try to reign in the partying of Greek Life, but overall police don't really get in anyone's way and are nice people.
The only dorm where the residential staff are strict about the opposite sex being in the dorms is Tutwiler which is the biggest women's dorm. The other halls either have rules they don't enforce (usually) or can't enforce (like in coed dorms).

Most nightlife revolves around fraternity events. Under 21 clubs are not available.

Rec facilities are good and easy to access.

I live on campus and have a car, but the few times I have used the campus shuttle it has proved itself to be efficient.

Game weekends definitely enhance night life around campus.

Athletics at my school are huge. Football is a very very big deal.
College Sophomore 2013-10-10T14:39:18Z
The price for a parking decal is outrageous. This is my 3rd college and the price I paid for parking and both of my previous schools combined is not even half of what I'm paying now. They are always ticketing people and place boots very quickly.

One word comes to mind when you think of UA: football. With 14 National Championships, it is to be expected that is basically what the students' lives revolve around here. Saturdays in the fall are always exciting. There are also several other organizations and hangouts if you are not into football. The Quad is a beautiful place to just chill in between classes. Overall, the campus at UA is truly an experience that cannot be beat.

Drugs are a big deal in the greek scene at my school. It depends on who you hang out with and where you are seen. Cocaine and weed are the two most common drugs.
College Sophomore 2013-10-04T00:49:30Z
The off campus housing is definitely nice and gives you a good range of options to choose from. The off campus housing is about the same price as some of the on campus housing and is more available than the on campus housing. The off campus housing is relatively close to the university.
College Sophomore 2013-10-04T00:46:38Z
The computers are pretty good. there are choices of macs and there are enough computer labs to get your work done within walking distance. I personally would recommend having your own computer and printer just to benefit you, but its not a necessity if you don't have one or cant afford one.
College Sophomore 2013-10-04T00:43:14Z
Greek life is pretty fun for everyone even if you're not apart of a fraternity or sorority.
