All labs in my experience were well maintained and up to date.

Guys & Girls:
Predominately Greek. Unfortunate in my opinion, but enough variety in the massive student body for everyone.

Good variety of foods split between cafeterias, and numerous retail eateries on and off campus. However, the monotony of certain dining halls and overcrowding are detrimental.

I love my major. It is very popular and all the teachers are extremely knowledgeable and always willing to help students.

Financial aid isn't hard to attain here, but it could be improved.

Public transportation is really good around Tuscaloosa. They have buses running all the time and they're free.

Restaurants off campus are great. Most of them even have student discounts.
College Sophomore 2013-08-23T03:19:28Z
The teachers are helpful and easy to contact, and there are many programs to choose from.
College Sophomore 2013-08-23T03:17:00Z
The academics are challenging and diverse, taught by very capable professors who expect a decent work load, but nothing that cannot be accomplished with a little elbow grease.
College Sophomore 2013-08-23T03:14:40Z
The apartments are over priced. They are more than $1,000 a month not including utilities. This is not affordable for college students, because most of us are unemployed and already in debt from student loans.

The pay (if any), from my own experience, is a fraction of the pay if you're hired full-time. Conditions such as time commitment, responsibilities, and adherence to rules are usually similar to the way it would be as a full-time employee. The way you respond to your conditions are among the things assessed by the management during your internship. It's a great experience and exposes how you really feel about the major you declared three/four years ago.

Tuscaloosa is a large town with SO much to offer. In the day time, we have football in the fall and parties in the spring. At nighttime, we have about 50 bars to chose from!

I have only heard of two incidents in an entire year about a group of students robbing another student at night time. Thankfully I don't walk alone at night so I am not particularly worried.

Its very hard to get scholarships from the University considering that you have to have a very high ACT score which is almost impossible for me. As for as accepting financial aid awards the process is an A+.

Health & Safety:
I chose A+ because while i was in Tuscaloosa for orientation, the advisors gave everyone a list of emergency contact numbers along with other numbers and address' we might need. Also The University of Alabama has Blue Emergency call booths everywhere on campus that are light bright at night.

The campus is not as strict because it is a public university. My two RAs I had my freshman year did not care if you drank or had a party in your room just as long as you weren't being too noisy. I have heard of RAs reporting students to the police for drug busts in certain dorms and they will report you.

There are many apartments that are available to students in Tuscaloosa. The price of an apartment largely depends on how many roommates you would like to have and where it is located in Tuscaloosa. Many apartments close to campus charge $700 - $900+ for rent to live in a one bedroom, The farther away from campus, the cheaper the rent will be. Apartments have many perks - swimming pool, movie theaters, game rooms, and gyms. Some places even have a shuttle that takes you back and forth to campus for class - very handy when you want to save on gas money. Be careful that some apartments are party places and you won't be able to get any study time that you need. I live in an off-campus apartment and I love it. It's amazing.

Alabama has a top ranked 50 business school and PR school, which are very popular majors. The science classes are hard and this is coming from a biology major. I came here for the great medical background which is very good. Most of the science professors could care less what grade you get in their class because they have other important things to do. That being said, you have to work very hard in each science class to get the grade you want to. There is hardly a night where I am not studying. It is possible to succeed here, just make you sure you put in a lot of work.

Football is very popular at Alabama. It's a tradition that takes over the school and even the town. Students count down the days until the fall in anticipation of the start of the football frenzy. People from all over pack into the Bryant-Denny Stadium for every home game to show their Crimson Pride. Game days are a tradition on this campus that will never get dull. The University of Alabama athletic centers are fantastic. More than 1 student center is on campus with very easy access. If you want to become involved in campus activities, you only have to ask and so many opportunities present themselves. Students and professors are willing to help with student involvement. It is very interesting and exciting.

The drug and alcohol scene at the University of Alabama is huge. We recently had a drug bust in one of the dormitories for weed and when the administration found out they took immediate action. The alcohol is harder to crack down on because it is more at students accessibility, but Alabama has a strict no drugs policy. I don't drink personally, but I have heard plenty of stories of underage students drinking and I never heard of a student getting into trouble because of it.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
