The drug scene at The University of Alabama is biggest in the Greek life. Many fraternities and sororities are known for their frequent drug and alcohol usage.

There is so much to do for any type of person. I love it here!

They may be attractive but not the nicest sometimes

It was fine. It could always be better, but it wasn't horrible.

Guys & Girls:
They're all just a bunch of jocks. It was difficult having an intelligent conversation with them.

Greek life is really big on UA's campus. It is also a pretty difficult process for girls to join a sorority because rush lasts a week and has so many girls. It's a little easier for fraternities. A bunch of people believe the Greek students run the school which is not true but they do hold a lot of student offices. There are also a lot of Greek Alumni working for the University. There are also a lot of non-Greeks as well. I believe the Greek life makes campus fun and is a way to always have plans and entertainment on campus.

You find almost anywhere or anything you want to eat. There is a large variety but there are really good barbecue, southern/home cooked, and chicken restaurants.

It seems like it rains more in Tuscaoosa than it does my hometown, but the weather is normal for the state of Alabama. We have a little bit of everything and the weather does what it wants when it wants. It's hot in the summer but the humidity is the worst part. But as I said early it is relatively normal for the state of Alabama.

There have been incidents marking racial intolerances around campus. It's alarming simply for the fact that young adults would act in such a manner, but as far I know, there have not been any life-threatening actions. There are always forums or something of that nature promoting equality and diversity. I can respect such measures.

The instructors, for the most part, are very well qualified to do their job. There have been instances in which T.A.'s would instruct, and that was not the best experience. The workload is not completely overwhelming as long as you are wise with time management. Otherwise, you WILL get behind. A lot of my professors did not really assign homework for a grade so much as for your own benefit. It never hurts to do it though. The curriculum for Computer Engineering is pretty rigorous. It's really all about dedication and time management. Without those two, you will be up the creek without a paddle. There are labs all over campus that make it fairly convenient to do any assigned task (requiring a program not on your personal computer).

Greek life is HUGE at this campus. It's ok if you aren't Greek, but it definitely outshines most people who aren't apart of it. Greeks typically associate with other Greeks, but again its ok if you aren't...just know its taken pretty seriously, but it is fun!! You'll meet a ton of awesome people, your fraternity/sorority will be involved on campus and volunteer with different organizations off campus (it looks good), and you will always have something fun to do!

Parking can be a nightmare if you are running late to class. The parking passes are a little expensive but worth it because it secures the area you get to park in all year. It really isn't too bad, just try to leave a few minutes early to avoid being late for class.

The food really isn't too bad; my friends and I took advantage of it pretty often when we didn't have money to be eating out. There are There are 3 main dining halls that offer good food and there is typically a nice variety. Lakeside has its own little food market where you can get snacks, drinks, frozen foods, etc. as well as a very good Dunkin Doughnuts! Tutwiler Hall (the all girls dorm) also has a market on the bottom floor called Julia's. They sell the same snacks as well as Boar's Head Sandwiches that are amazing.

Not only does the the Communications and Information Sciences school at The University of Alabama offer a multitude of different courses, but the professors teaching these courses are so incredibly helpful. Sure, some can be more difficult than others, but you will find that anywhere. All the courses I have taken for my major have been very interesting and very worth my time. I can easily say that I have learned a lot. The communications department is one of the top schools at UA because of our television station and our connections with ESPN and other stations due to our incredible football team. This is a school that you can't go wrong with and I can promise there is something to like about every teacher and every course offered. Not to mention, you will no doubt find what suits you best!

All of the facilities on campus are relatively new or in the process of being renovated.

Most of the housing on campus is either brand new or in the process of being renovated.

Every facility on campus is either new or is being renovated. I love all of the buildings on campus. It is amazing to just walk into some of the buildings and look at how beautiful they are.

Sometimes the options at the dining halls can be very repetitive and who wants to eat the same things 5 days a week?

I believe that there are many international students that believe Alabama is a great school and they are also very happy to be there as well. I think they are accepted by the majority and have a majority of their customs respected by the majority as well.

I received a fairly substantial amount of assistance and the staff was very helpful as well.

People are open to anything around campus. It is pretty diverse and just like in other places, there are some mishaps but I have never felt uncomfortable and I am a young African American woman. There are plenty of places to worship. There are plenty of places for foreign exchange students.

I didn't receive as many scholarships that I would have liked, but my dad was in the Navy for 25 years, so that is what's paying for my tuition. So, if you have a family member that served that is a way you can get money.Try and score as high as possible on the ACT and SAT that will help. Make sure you complete the scholarship application before the deadline in December!!

The atmosphere in Tuscaloosa is nice. There are several shopping areas on and off campus, and a huge variety of food options. The people are so nice here. Every person you run into is so kind, and you really get that southern hospitality welcome. And of course on game days, football just brings everyone together and the campus is filled with fun people and lots of excitement!! The only bad thing is once you travel away from the school there isn't much attractions, it's nothing like living in a city environment, so if that's what you are used to, you might want to consider that.
College Sophomore 2013-06-16T22:12:39Z
The parties are very fun!! My first year I had a blast! There are so many options from house parties to frat parties, and clubs. Even if there are not a lot of parties most the time someone on campus is having a small get together. There are a lot of off campus apartments and housing, so many people who live in those areas throw parties, too.The only downfall is if you are not 19 you can't get into the clubs. Other than that basically from Wednesday night through Saturday night there are parties all over!

We had a major tornado my freshman year and finals were canceled due to the city's turmoil need to recover. Tuscaloosa is like a Tornado alley.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
