Has the typical chains and sports pubs but between the campus strip and the nearby restaurants, has plenty of options. Many are withing walking distance of the dorms and greek houses.

Transportation around campus is excellent viz The Crimson Ride which has about 4 different routes. Late night services as well. And if you're in trouble or shouldn't be driving (if you catch my drift) you can call and someone from campus security will come get you and take you back to your dorm safely. They also rent cars to students and have a shuttle to the Birmingham airport.

There are not that many people involved with drugs, but there are people that may use it and abuse. that also applies to alcohol.

Best type of professors: knowledgeable with life experience (successful life experience). Registration is a snap, study help and resources everywhere. The libraries can get packed though.

Very conservative school (but hey, it's the south). You need a permit/permission to do pretty much anything, but once you have it you're golden and it's not hard to get permission

If your grades/SAT score/high school work is great, college can be almost free.

There isn't enough parking for students who want to park close to their dorms. The University also overbooks on parking passes, so at peak class hours, make sure to get to campus 30 minutes early or you may not get a spot.

The professors here are unmatched. All upper level management professors have real life experience and connections that can help you along. Heavy Greek influences though, so if you are an independent it is annoying to be in some of the major based honor societies.

For the most part it is pretty good, even the older dorms are in good shape. I just recommend you not go to Paty, I have had friends that stayed their and i is an all boys dorm by the way.

As long as I've been here I done seen some stuff. They are pretty undercover with it, but this past year has gotten worse and more noticeable.

It really depends on what you find. I know a good bit of people who did not get scholarships directly from the school, but found some elsewhere.

There are plenty of options for students to enjoy nightlife. The strip has bars, clubs, and places to eat while you are searching for a good time.

The nightlife at The University of Alabama is very lively. There is always something to do any night of the week. If you participate in the greek life, there are always Fraternity parties going on and if you're 21 or older bars are always crowded during the week nights. The night life is always a good time at The University of Alabama.

I loved living on campus my freshman year at The University of Alabama. I gave it an A- because although I loved being so convenient to everything, when you live on campus you do not get to live in a nice apartment or house. On campus living is only in dorms. The cost was very reasonable and I had tons of people around me to get along with. The dorms are very convenient to all of the school buildings and even the on campus cafeterias. I loved my on campus experience.

There are many different bus routes and many buses per route, however, the buses can run one behind another and are not ideal for getting to class onetime, it is quicker to walk across campus then to take the bus around campus.

Contrary to beliefs, the Greeks do not run the campus. Yes, we have a large number of students that are Greek, but you can survive at Alabama being nongreek

There are 4 dining halls around campus and 3 fast foods hubs. The best dining hall is Bryant (the athletic dining hall). Every dining hall serves something different everyday so you have a wide variety. And if you get hungry at night, club Lakeside is open until 1

Guys & Girls:
I have met some really great guys and girls. And some really great frat guys and sorority girls. But as a whole frat guys are very typical. They don't seem to care much about anything other than hooking up and partying

Health & Safety:
I have never felt unsafe while walking around campus, even at night when I am alone. Although game day weekends, when visiting team fans hit the bars can make me feel uneasy.

There is always access to computers at the libraries. There are also quite a few libraries. There are desktops and laptops you can check out. However, the wireless internet in the dorms will sometimes give you trouble. You'll have no problem in the library, though.

We don't have the greatest shopping in Tuscaloosa, but you can always go to Birmingham or Mobile. I think a lot of people shop online. It's helpful to me so I manage my money better. But Target, Walmart, and grocery stores are all there. My favorite thing to do is head to the lake on warm days. There are plenty of outdoor things to do in Alabama. You can also hit up the bars on the strip and downtown at night. I've never had a bad experience with local residents. They love the school.
College Sophomore 2013-05-22T18:18:31Z
I would say Bryant and Burke are your best choice for food. Lakeside isn't the best, but they do have late night options. There are other options than just dining halls and there are a lot of places to eat on the strip.

The police recently had a huge drug bust, but they are extremely lenient with under age drinking (especially on game day). The strictness of academics depend on the teacher.

Sports at the University of Alabama are amazing! Our football program especially is spectacular. Going to a football game in Bryant-Denny is a truly life changing experience. I came to school here with very little interest in football but now I can safely say that I am one of the biggest Alabama football fans ever. Our other sports are not neglected either. We have championship softball and gymnastics programs as well.

There are several different parking lots available on campus but since you have to park in the designated one on your parking pass it would be advisable to get to campus atleast 30 minutes before your class.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
