Guys & Girls:
Greek Life Attire – You will find tons of frat guys in polos and khakis walking around campus. Greek life is a huge thing at University of Alabama so many people dress preppy. A lot of girls, mostly sorority girls wear big tshirts and nike shorts with gym shoes to class.

Iffy on Some Days – being in Alabama, the summer, especially August, is extremely hot and humid. This makes the first couple weeks of class a little annoying, but if you wear shorts and try to stay inside for a few weeks, the fall, winter, and spring are beautiful!! During the spring it does rain a good bit, but it's really not that big of a problem.

Tuscaloosa is a generally safe, fun environment. They are very student friendly, and many events are targeted for students. We have tons of great concerts (Train, Luke Bryan, and John Mayer to name a few), the Black Warrior River to kayak, canoe or swim in, and Moundville just down the road. There are two larger malls within 2 miles of campus, and lots of boutiques with reasonably priced clothes. There are ALWAYS sporting events to go to, and all of them are free for students except football games, which are only 5 dollars!

Very Abundant – Transportation provided by campus is very convenient. Buses run all day every day on several different routes with many stops. When the buses stop running, 348-RIDE starts running. Basically you just call that number and a bus or taxi comes to pick you up for free. There are also local taxi companies, and you can rent zip cars to go as far as you need to for a very reasonable price!

Super Impressive! First off, we have the most amazing rec center, where you can take exercise classes, lift weights, play basketball, work out, rent outdoor equipment, and swim. We also have any kind of field or gym you could imagine, and a very large intramural sports program. We have several libraries on campus for different areas of study, the Ferguson Center, our student center, is the main place for students. Our book store, post office, bank, dean's office, biggest cafeteria, and theatre are housed there. there are SO many different activities to get involved in, from religious groups to academic clubs to sororities or fraternities to sports clubs to cultural groups. You will find what you want here!!

Prominent Greek Life – Greek life is very big on the UA campus, and this includes frat parties and swaps every week, as well as bars and clubs right off campus. However, I myself have not felt pressured in any way to drink, and I have not even heard of any drugs on campus. I guess you find what you are looking for here, whether you are looking for drinking and drugs or just a quiet time.

A Little Bit of Everything – The University of Alabama has a major that fits anyone. Whether its Arts, Medicine, Business or Languages and Travel, UA has a program that can prepare its students for a bright and fulfilling future.

...but you'll pay out of the nose for them. There are more traditional options that run about $6000 a year; the suite-style dorms are really nice, but are around $9000 a year. Freshman must live on campus, and along with that they must purchase a $1500 meal plan. The newer dorms are definitely good options though (I lived in Ridgecrest South), though if you don't have a scholarship you likely won't hesitate to go off campus after the first year.

Parking passes at UA range from about $125 to almost $500, depending on whether you're on campus and whether you'd like to actually park ON campus or in a perimeter lot. If you have a permit, parking is usually available. If you're off campus, you really have to consider whether you need to drive to campus; most nearby apartment complexes offer shuttles.

Simple Process, Generous Offers – For "high stats" students, getting a scholarship for tuition or more is automatic so long as you submit the application (a very simple form, largely a formality). Other scholarships are more competitive, but there are plenty available.

Come on Down to Title Town – In 2012, Crimson Tide teams won FOUR national championships -- football, softball, gymnastics, and women's golf. Exciting, but not surprising. It sounds arrogant, but Alabama is good at pretty much everything. All sports' home games are free for students (except football -- $5 a game). Roll tide.

Parking is rough. You will get fined if you park wrong.

The police are strict and want to keep school safe.

Sports are fun and the students really show spirit.

Drinking Is More Popular – The University has a zero tolerance for drinking on campus, however you see it a the nearby strip where bars are located.

No Place on Earth Like It – Theres no place on earth like Tuscaloosa, the city of champions!! It truly is an experience that can not be beat with any other University!

There is plenty of parking which makes it easy for people to find a parking space close enough to their classes. It may be a bit difficult parking in some places because the ones in the lot of your class may be taken so you would have to park a bit further.

Great School!! I absolutely love this school, and I show great pride in my school. The sporting events are awesome. Tailgating parties and hanging out with friends. Having the freedom allows me to whatever I want. People are always welcoming here.

Strictness Not So Bad – I often have a great time at my school. On game days, officers are very lenient and they try not to interfere unless someone really becomes a disturbance. Obviously they are firm about under age drinking and drug use, but it is not extreme. Although things are not extremely strict, I always feel safe on campus and off campus.

Amazing Coursework – In the Food and Nutrition degree program academics are demanding, but the instructors are willing to help students understand the information. The information is up-to-date and continually evolves, and the instructors make sure new info is presented in class when applicable. Highly recommended!

Not Too Hard to Get in to – I am working on a 2nd Bachelor's / Master's degree - getting in to the degree program was fairly easy, but the follow-on internship will be difficult to get in to if you do not do well in classes. The coursework is rigorous but very interesting and informative - the instructors are always available and willing to answer questions.

Exceptional Sports Programs – Alabama has 14 national titles in football along with numerous national titles in women's gymnastics and cheerleading; other teams typically rank high in national polls - there are exceptional sports facilities and really high pride in our sports teams. IM sports are available as well.

Tough, but Manageable – I had a 4.0 in high school with a tough schedule full of AP classes, but I didn't really spend much time out of school doing schoolwork. I really had to buckle down at the UA, especially in my honors courses. The teachers expect a lot out of you and students really had to know the material. Most of my classes were actually fairly small (20-50 people), especially in the Honors College. I'm confident that almost all of my teachers knew my name, which really surprised me. My GPA ended up just fine, but I really had to work for it.

PR Program Is #1 – As a public relation major, I am in the top program for PR in the country. We have been ranked the #1 undergraduate PR program by PRWeek magazine for the past 3 years and our faculty is top notch. Internships are very important and the walls are covered with internship and job postings, as well as the web-site for the college. It's a very competitive program but you will graduate well-prepared for your position.

Mainly Caucasian Students – The majority of our undergraduate students are white, but our African American population is growing.
