I honestly do not know. I doubt it dominates the school but it has a great influence.

Pretty, but Windy – The campus is gorgeous, so I love walking it. Weather is only a slight problem here. It's usually warm in the South anyway, and so walking around outside is never a problem. On the few days the weather is bad (the occasional rain or wind storm) the buses are available!

Having Fun, AND Being Safe – My school is really good at throwing parties and the night before a game is amazing! I never feel the need for going off campus to have a good time. Underage nightlife isn't a problem, nobody wants that risk. What is great, is that if you are ever out really late, the University has a system that you call that will ensure you get home safe.

Good and There Is Plenty Around – The food at The University of Alabama is really good. Everything is always cooked correctly and delicious. The only thing is, it's college food. It is meant for expediency. if I get bored, I just go out into town. There are plenty of restaurants and I can always count on something sent to me from my parents.
College Sophomore 2011-12-23T03:58:47Z
The facilities are very helpful.I can always find a quiet place on campus to study but i'm also never bored. There is always something to do whether its going to the student union, going to a football game, or just going to the gym. i'm very satisfied.

Very Inviting – The town of Tuscaloosa is very inviting. There are so many things to do around town and on campus, I have also met a ton of friendly people. Im very glad I chose to go to school here

Health & Safety:
Special Security Measures – There are hundreds of blue phones that are located all across campus. If you ever feel undafe all you have to do is pick one up and a police officer will give you a ride home.

Athletic Centers – The athletic facilities on campus are truly top notch.

The parking on campus is extremely bad. They are trying to rectify this by adding more parking lots. The on campus bus system is great so once you get to campus -park and then take the bus everywhere.

The Strip – Cheap Off-campus dining options are limited to fast food. The downtown strip has a Chinese, 2 thai and 4-5 middle eastern places they aren't that cheap. There a quite a few bar and Grils that have decent food. If you have a car you can drive down to City Cafe in Northport and enjoy a full fledged southern meal, with a main, 2 sides, dessert and drink for 5 bucks. American food, bbq, southern and Italian food are pretty good but Chinese/Japanese/Indian food is quite pricey and bad.

Separate Lives – Greek life is very prominent, but you don't have to be involved. Because of the busy schedule Greek's have, Greeks and non-Greeks can be friends, but it's hard to be very close. There are a few Greeks who look down upon non-Greeks (GDI's), but for the most part people don't really care one way or another.

ROLL TIDE – Where else can you use "Roll Tide" as a hello, goodbye, in those awkward silence moments, and to end a English paper. The academics are great and the social life is amazing as well. If you party really hard you can fall behind fast. Find your balance and roll tide!

If you live on campus and park by your dorm, my advice to you is to not move your car or you will lose your spot. If you live off campus make sure you park and are at the bus stop at least 30 minutes. Off campus parking spots are on the out-skirts of campus so you have to ride the bus if you don't want to walk an hour to class. Where ever you park, make sure you have a pass for that lot or you will get a ticket!

We Are a College Town – The campus police and Tuscaloosa police are lenient as long as you are not drinking and driving. Most of the bars are strict with fake i.d.s. But you can be drunk walking around campus and not get in to much trouble. They understand the "college experience".
College Senior 2011-12-14T04:07:28Z
The university offers some off campus transportation. Most students though choose to drive. When they do, this causes more on campus parking issues. The on campus buses are usually on some sort of schedule so if you figure it out then your possibilities of getting around will be plenty!

It Is What You Make of It. There are the to be expected bars downtown. But that's about it. If you are under 19 then you're going to have to find your own form of nightlife because you won't be able to get into the bars. If you find your own group of good close friends then you are sure to have plenty of fun on the weekends.

Exceeds My Expectations – I was encouraged to go to the University of Alabama because many other members of my family went here. Even without that reason, I wanted to come here. They have a great business school that will help me achieve my major and be beneficial down the road when I am job hunting. From my experience the professors are willing to help with anything. You just have to put forth effort to go to class and study for yourself.

I transferred from a different SEC school in the middle of my freshman year. I had a 33 ACT, a 4.3 GPA coming out of high school, and a 4.0 for my first semester of college, and had already been accepted into the UA Honors College. However, I will not be able to receive any scholarships until Fall 2012. So, basically now I have $20,000 in student loans because I transferred at an inconvenient time.

I'm Greek! I am a sophomore in an Old Row sorority here on campus. Greek life is amazing and has provided me with countless opportunities to meet new people and to get involved in so many ways. Most non-Greeks don't really care about Greek/non-Greek, but there are a few organizations on campus that just totally hate us. Sororities are a bit on the expensive side, however, every house has a kitchen staff and we get three good meals a day included in that. You always have a place to go 24/7 to study, hang out with friends, or just go to get away for a while. Sororities and Fraternities have members that live in the houses, but there are no Greek dorms or anything. Definitely get involved with it!

T-Town Environment – Great place, even after the tornado. Places are starting to rebuild and reopen. Still tons of great restaurants, the strip is amazing. Downtown has good food, shopping, museums, and many other attractions. Its a better than typical college town. In my two years here, I've visited other college towns like Auburn, College Station, Athens, and Oxford. The only one that even comes close is Athens.

Bama Bums – I will have to praise the University on this subject. Personally, I hardly see any alcohol, except on gameday, and I haven't seen a narcotic since I enrolled.

Bama Life – Honestly, I am not much of a night-life seeker. I am an early riser, but I here it is good. Personally, I have no idea how people party and have late nights and still make passing grades.

The U of a – I really love it here. The atmosphere is good and the tradition of the university is top of the line. I hate that the Greek system has so much strength, though.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
