Our programs are really good. My university has one of the best Engineering programs in the country. There are lots of public events like free movie screenings and it's really easy to get involved on campus. All of the teachers are really friendly and willing to help and most of the English and Literature classes are fairly small.

Every year the prices for parking permits increase. Also, because they keep increasing enrollment, it is hard to find a parking spot in your designated zone. Parking is a complete disaster for all upperclassmen. The ticketing people are fine happy and have been known to give out tickets for parking crooked. I would suggest that freshmen have cars if you live far from home or would travel there often.

I lived on campus for two years. There are several options for students to choose from. On one side of campus there are the suite style rooms that have 4 people, 2 bathrooms a living room and a kitchen. Those dorms are all coed by floor. On the other side of campus are the more traditional style dorms. There are two all female dorms and one coed. These dorms have community style bathrooms and 2 people per room. On every other floor there is either a kitchen or vending machines. The dorms are relatively cheap. The newer ones generally cost more than the older ones. However, the older dorms are a lot closer to the heart of campus.

The teachers are very knowledgeable and the courses offer a wide variety of subjects in the kinesiology field. The main kinesiology building is currently being renovated. Being a big sports school, there are plenty of internship available that involve all aspects of sport from working with teams to advertising and public relations.

Be Yourself – Be yourself. Don't be afraid to ask questions. UA has the top programs in PR and advertising. All you have to do is be interested and passionate about whatever you're studying. Getting in is the easy part. It's staying in that can be difficult sometimes.

Halfway There – The University of Alabama offers on-campus buses from 7AM-11PM every day, and when they're not running, 348-RIDE will take you anywhere on campus and even down to the Strip. Parking is terrible on campus, however. There seem to be a few things (such as student employee parking) that the University really needs to fix, but as a whole, the school is doing a great job. There is also a shuttle service offered for out-of-state students who need to fly home during winter break.

Big Town/Small Town Environment – Tuscaloosa has a very unique atmosphere. It has the charms of a small town while acting like a big city when it needs to. Everyone says football season down here is the best, but I actually like it in the spring a lot better. The football frenzy has died down, and students get to see what Tuscaloosa really has to offer. From visiting the ruins at Capitol Park to trying out various ethnic restaurants, Tuscaloosa has so much more to offer than a sighting of Nick Saban at Starbucks.

Good but not great – I recently graduated from the school, and I will say that you will an assortment of good, decent, and bad professors. I will not name any names, but you can get a feel for them. I was in Electrical Engineering and don't know a lot of the professors outside of the program because I transferred in, but from what I can tell, you won't find many superb professors. In EE, I know of only 4 professors that really stick out for how much the students actually learn from them. Then you have some others that are liked, but you don't feel like you're really covering any ground. Then there are those that you just don't think make the cut. They're not good at communicating with the students and are not good at presenting material in a way that helps people learn it effectively.
Outside of EE, I haven't been in a class with professors that wow me, but it didn't much either way because I whizzed by those with B's or higher with little work and effort. I feel like the university is more into meeting quotas rather than actually trying to be a first class academic institution. I say this not because I was a slightly above average student, or that I wanted to be given grades. I say this because it's true. It's worse in the more technical degree programs as it's very detailed but it's harder to learn and understand if the professor's aren't up to snuff. I couldn't teach it, but I didn't learn from at least half of them.
There quite a few professors who do make themselves available to you outside of class, though. If you do take the time, they will talk to you on a more personal level, and even just talk casually about things that aren't related to academia at all. There are a good bit of caring professors, but you do have those stick in the mud types.

Parking is awful. They have buses so they assume that it isn't a big deal, but the buses are so slow, it's easier to walk. But walking takes forever and you may be several miles from your class.

Life on the Town – Tuscaloosa is built around the campus. There is no doubt about the fact that this is a place geared toward college life. However, there are many different things to do than the usual bar scene. There are eatiers all over, art festivals, live music, theaters, and sporting events any given night of the week.

When considering the University of Alabama, many people think only about the athletics and night life. We are seen as a party school simply because not much is known about any other aspect of the university. It is actually quite different when you are one of the students, however. Although it is true that sports takes up a good chunk of student life, the academics and professors who teach them are amazing. There are so many different opportunities. It would be simple for anyone to come here and find their passion.

Set Apart – some of the academic programs are outstanding, but the thing that sets us aside from most others is our athletics, especially our football team.

Transpotation at School – You can buy a parking pass and park on campus or you can use a number of bus options on or off campus that don't cost anything.

off campus dining is the same as dining anywhere else in the country, with the same prices. There are a few places with a student discount or that except your dining card that you already paid for through the school.

Night Life – The night life is great at Bama. From the bars to frat parties, there is always something to do.

There are some great off campus communities. They also have a shuttle that runs from the university back to the apartment complexes.

Southern Charm – Tuscaloosa is a small town, but with so much charm. The people in the South are so nice. The town offers many local restaurants and some great small shops to browse in. The horrendous tornado that hit our university has wiped out many local restaurants and shops. The whole town has come together and has helped each other try rebuild. It is going to take a while, but the town of Tuscaloosa is strong and we will all get through this, but we will never forget.

There Is Nothing Good Unique Here. The only thing that stands out here is Greek life. If you aren't Greek, you're a nobody.

Buses Are the Easiest Way – The buses run most of the day during classes and it is easy to get from class to class using the buses, but you have to leave early.

Guys & Girls:
The Girls Are Okay – The girls are not as hot as most people say and it is painfully obvious if they are Greek. Most are wanna be Southern belles that don't have the looks, but have the accent of a redneck.

Off Campus – Its great, we have everything from Japenese to barbecue. Also, some great sandwich shops that are just in Tuscaloosa.

Strictness at The University of Alabama is an efficient amount and keeps academic and social policy clear to its students and faculty members.

The University of Alabama has many wonderful locations to access its computers on campus. There are always multiple locations any student can go to in order to get onto the internet. The speed and reliability are both excellent and have the occasional hiccup, but never anything that would make studying and working conditions strenuous. I think printing is the only dislike I have because the cost is five cents per page, and there are always plenty of items a student needs printing. So like I said, not a aspect but is not detrimental to the efficientcy of the computers at The University of Alabama.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
