Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Students are not too worried about the strictness of the UA police, but the Tuscaloosa police are a different story. The UA police make sure the students are safe. They are not very strict. The Tuscaloosa police are harsher on underage drinking and do not tolerate drugs. Along with the Tuscaloosa police, watch out for the ABC (Alcohol Beverage Control).

At certain times of the year, the Tuscaloosa police and the ABC get together and patrol the bars and house parties pretty hard. This is usually around the beginning of the school year. Police are trying to scare away all of the underage students that try to drink in the bars. After a while, the police start to calm down a little, but students recommend continuing to be careful because they are never completely gone. News travels fast around Tuscaloosa, and students usually find out early if the police are out busting the bars. No matter which police you prefer, they both make students feel safe, but watch out for the stricter ones.

Just Be Discreet.

the UAPD is more concerned with keeping everyone safe than trying to make as many arrests as possible. But be warned that the UAPD sends anyone who has been arrested to the Tuscaloosa jail. Don't do anything stupid in public. Also, don't park anywhere outside your parking zone before 6 PM or on weekends. You will get a ticket within 15 minutes.

We Are a College Town

The campus police and Tuscaloosa police are lenient as long as you are not drinking and driving. Most of the bars are strict with fake i.d.s. But you can be drunk walking around campus and not get in to much trouble. They understand the "college experience".
