Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

This school is known for its party scene. Students party until the sun comes up. The bars usually close at 2 a.m., but on Fridays, they don’t close at all. Don’t expect to go home and go to bed once the bars close—the party doesn’t end. The bars allow students in as young as 19, but drinking is still prohibited. Fake IDs are popular, but watch out because the police are cracking down. The Strip and downtown offer numerous bars within walking distance of each other. The most popular places are the ones with the best bands, but word travels fast. After the bars close, the house parties open. Loud music and a bunch of cars tell you are in the right place for a party.

Most of the fraternities get bands that are popular among the students. These parties are free, and they’re a perfect opportunity to dance and listen to your favorite music. Other organizations throw parties as well. Most house parties are thrown by a specific group or organization. If the party scene isn’t for you, then try some of the coffee shops. They usually have live music as well, but at a low-key level. If you are itching to dance, you will have to drive to Birmingham because Tuscaloosa has no dance clubs, but there are always people dancing in the bars.

The nightlife has become boring. I'm so ready to move. All of the clubs close at 2AM and you really get tired of doing the same thing repeatedly.

Having Fun, AND Being Safe

My school is really good at throwing parties and the night before a game is amazing! I never feel the need for going off campus to have a good time. Underage nightlife isn't a problem, nobody wants that risk. What is great, is that if you are ever out really late, the University has a system that you call that will ensure you get home safe.

Facts

Bar Prowler

Most of the bars in Tuscaloosa are located on the Strip, where you can find college students and adults roaming until all hours of the night bar hopping. But there’s no need to worry about safety because the Tuscaloosa police do a good job of making sure the Strip is a safe place for everyone.

Organization Parties

There are over 200 organizations at UA, and many of them will rent out a restaurant or bar and throw private parties. The SGA and some of the other large organizations rent out bars and throw open parties to raise money, and they are usually packed. It is easy to find these parties. Flyers are usually up all over campus, so you are sure to see them.
