Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Finding off-campus housing is easy. There are many apartment complexes and houses located within walking distance of campus. Most are located right behind the Strip, so students can walk to class and the bars, restaurants, and grocery store. Off-campus housing can be close to the price of living on campus if you look in the right places. However, watch out for companies that try to take advantage of students. Living off campus has its ups and downs. It gives students individual time and more freedom to do whatever they please. However, this freedom costs money. There are many places that have low rent, but it’s the utilities that end up costing the most.

The University Downs is a popular apartment complex and is fairly inexpensive, but it’s not the closest to campus. Students have to wake up earlier for class since traffic can be hectic, but most don’t mind because the freedom makes up for it. The University also owns some apartments that are located next to the stadium. But don’t wait too late to find your dream house because the good ones are taken fast in Tuscaloosa. If off-campus living is what you choose, be prepared to leave early for class, unless you live close enough to walk.

Affordable Off Campus Housing

Most of the off campus living communities recommended for students are relatively affordable and very new in construction. They seem to be well maintained and have good perks that are included, such as: pools and workout facilities. They are all pretty close to the campus.

off campus housing can be expensive depending on how close you are to campus. if thats where you are looking to live start looking by the middle of october the LATEST!!! they go fast. i have a two bedroom house on paul bryant and i have to pay 695 a month. but other than that its great! i suggest living as close as possible because parking is rediculous, they ticket you for everything

Housing

There are some great off campus communities. They also have a shuttle that runs from the university back to the apartment complexes.
