Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Hot! Hot! Hot! If you like it hot, then Bama’s weather is perfect for you. The summers are hot and humid, so bring shorts and flip-flops. UA students cool off during the summers by going to the pool, so make sure to bring a swim suit. The winters are cold, but it rarely snows. Students recommend sweaters and jeans, but heavy coats and scarves are not needed. An article of clothing you will need year-round at Bama is a raincoat or an umbrella. Rain comes and goes in the most random times.

It is “Alabama weather.” This is the best way students can explain Tuscaloosa. Alabama weather is always changing at random times. One morning you can be wearing a T-shirt and jeans, and the next, you need a sweater. The best advice is to bring clothes for all occasions. The South is very humid, so prepare yourself for hot weather and never forget to have your raincoat nearby.

Alabama Weather

Have plenty of sunscreen and bottled water. The climate in Tuscaloosa is awfully hot in the summer. That is to be expected in the south but it is sometimes ridiculously hot. The winters are beautiful and never freezing cold.

Never Know What to Expect

I moved to AL from FL, so I traded hurricanes for tornadoes. Keep an umbrella with you. You never know when it may flash flood. The summers are hot, hot, hot. Winters can be cold. University operations may be suspended if it looks like the weather is going to be severe.

Very Hot and Humid

It's very hot and humid here, except for late fall/early spring. The summer is terrible, and it's like a constant sauna everywhere.
