Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Hot! Hot! Hot! If you like it hot, then Bama’s weather is perfect for you. The summers are hot and humid, so bring shorts and flip-flops. UA students cool off during the summers by going to the pool, so make sure to bring a swim suit. The winters are cold, but it rarely snows. Students recommend sweaters and jeans, but heavy coats and scarves are not needed. An article of clothing you will need year-round at Bama is a raincoat or an umbrella. Rain comes and goes in the most random times.

It is “Alabama weather.” This is the best way students can explain Tuscaloosa. Alabama weather is always changing at random times. One morning you can be wearing a T-shirt and jeans, and the next, you need a sweater. The best advice is to bring clothes for all occasions. The South is very humid, so prepare yourself for hot weather and never forget to have your raincoat nearby.

Better Than Ohio

We have some wind and rain but winters are much milder than in the North. The tornado last April was quite an experiance. We were very fortunate to have had minimal damage. We were surrounded by disaster and many were affected. The campus was efficient before, during and after.

Escape the Cold

Coming from the north, southern weather is the greatest. Over the winter, it gets obviously colder, but nowhere near unbearable. Autumn and Spring weather are absolutely beautiful when it's sunny, and the Quad is the place to hang out on a nice day. If it rains too hard, classes are cancelled, and there is rarely snow.

Pretty, but Windy

The campus is gorgeous, so I love walking it. Weather is only a slight problem here. It's usually warm in the South anyway, and so walking around outside is never a problem. On the few days the weather is bad (the occasional rain or wind storm) the buses are available!
