The Nanooks are a very proud breed- especially of our athletes. There's a lot of student support and involvement when it comes to varsity sports. However, in a school of over 11,000 we only have 250 student athletes. Our athletes are definitely given the resources they need to succeed. Advising, academic support, as well as some really impressive coaches and facilities.

I am a cheerleader at UAF myself. The support the athletes give one another is great. Student involvement is good but could always use some improvement when supporting all sports.

Alaska is not populated enough to really be in a class to get too excited about sports.

though i have not attended a game due to working two jobs and keeping up on my school load i am dying to see a game. everyone's excitement for the game not just on campus but in the community is high and positive and makes for a fun experience thatyou just want to be apart of.

Personally, I'm not an college athlete, but I've heard great things from my friends who are. The hockey program, I think, can give some of the best programs in the country a run for their money... they are NCAA Division 1 and play some of the largest hockey schools in the nation. Everybody loves hockey!
We also pride ourselves on our stellar Cross Country Running & Skiing program. I don't think they get as much attention from fans as they deserve, though...
There is also varsity women's volleyball, men's and women's basketball, women's swimming, as well as the 10-time NCAA Championship Riflery Team!
Sorry, there are no reviews.
