Fairbanks is a nice city, not too big, but not too small. You see many of the same people over again, both on campus and off. If you have a car, it's easy to get around. If you don't then it's a little harder. But there are many things to do, like hiking, skiing, snowboarding, snow machining, etc.

Fairbanks offers tons of attractions and deals for students. Cheaper movie tickets, special shopping sprees available only to students, and great food choices. There's a lot to do "in the city" as well as outside of it. Tons of great trails, hiking, and sites to visit. Definitely no excuses to stay inside.

Fairbanks is a small town to begin with, but the campus has a warm fuzy feeling to it. UAF has a lot of alternative sports to partake in so people get to know each other better. There is a mix of diverse people that come together to learn and work.

Fairbanks is pretty remote but the people are warm hearted and it is easy to find fun things to do in the dead of winter. We may not have as much as larger cities but we make due with what we have.
