I used to take the shuttle bus down the UAF hill to catch the bus and they were usually on time and kind-hearted individuals. City bus is a whole different story, they would be late and sometimes arrive before they were scheduled so I would have to wait till the next pick up time. OUCH in -30 (ALASKA)

I've never used the UAF transportation, but I know that it is on time and regular, bus stops are heated, or near heated locations. It also connects to lines outside of the university.

The campus shuttle is excellent and the public bus system has really improved, goes all the way to North Pole, Downtown, Bases and shopping.

A lot of Alaska's population is in the bush, and the rest of the population drives on the few roads that there are, It is so expensive to live here and heat your homes that the polar express and all its attributes is a very welcomed sight all over the area and they run every 15-20 minutes I believe. Amazing.

There isn't a lot of parking for the cheapest parking permit and the lots are at the far ends of campus. There is a shuttle service, but it can take awhile to catch a ride. There are city buses that stop at campus, but the bus system is a hassle and can take awhile to get to where you are going. The bus system and the shuttle service are both free to students and do stop at a lot of places throughout town. There is the option of walking, which can be done, but during the winter is not advised due to the extremely low temperatures.
