Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

In a failed effort to keep some sort of peace between residents in the UA community and off-campus students who party, the UAPD began red-tagging houses and even engaged in some raids in which dozens of underage drinkers were arrested. The UAPD ceased its operations after a public outcry denouncing the activities erupted in the UA community. The bars around campus will usually card patrons, too, but students still use a lot of fake IDs—with some success, depending on the venue.

Kids get busted with weed and alcohol in their dorms a lot here. No matter how free you may think you are away from your parents, know that parties and your decision to do whatever with whichever substances can both be put in check by Residence Life. Either learn how to hide stuff in your room and to transport covertly, or get out of the business—don’t ruin your college career, because smoking a blunt in the dorms isn't worth the cost. The campus doesn’t seem to be extremely strict, but there are always campus police around. UAPD will bust you. Bad. Cheating is taken pretty seriously, too. Most colleges filter essays and memos through a national database to find copycats. For tests in larger classes, hat bills have to be turned around and you have to produce identification. Cheating often can be a really bad idea, so don't think you're smarter than the faculty. You're not.

Very Strict

Drug use and underag drinking are very strictly enforced by campus pd. Every weekend since my dorm is directly across from the party dorm there is always police cars arresting someone.

Pretty Relaxed Campus

Campus is fairly relaxed. I did get pulled over by an undercover cop on campus one time freshman year because I was riding my bike on the sidewalk and in the opposite flow of traffic...even though there was only one car in sight. Other than that I have never been in trouble with the police or school authorities and I still know how to have fun and "college" like just don't be dumb about it.

Campus Police Are Strict

They take underage drinking pretty seriously. If you get caught in Arizona you get a minor in possession or a minor in consumption. Drinking and driving in Arizona is definitely extremely severe so the punishments are insane.
