Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Say no to drugs. Well, at least say no to the really hard ones. Marijuana seems to make a lot of friends on this campus, and this isn't surprising considering the size of the UA. Are you going to be one of these friends? Circle one of the following: a.) Yes, b.) I plan to be a fair-weathered friend, c.) No, or d.) You mean prescription drugs?

You don’t have to experiment in college, and many people don't. Many “sober” UA students aren’t deprived or set back in any way, though they may have more than a few nights watching movies at home on Fridays. Use your head and make decisions that you’re comfortable with. Otherwise, you’ll end up feeling ripped off. You may know someone who knows some drug dealers on campus, so drugs are on campus, but is anyone seriously shocked here? It isn’t as if you'll have to step over dirty needles on the way to class or anything. Most drug use takes place off campus and with friends. Some dumb freshmen have tried smoking joints in the dorms, but before you consider this, check out the "Police Beat" in the campus newspaper. Hardly an issue goes by without someone getting caught by an RA. In the end, drug use is common among those who are careful about it, but by no means is it an essential part of the student experience at UA.

It Happens Everywhere

Evrry school, city, state has its problems but main problem here is alcohol. Would not say there is a lot of illegal drug use or crime associated with the school.

It all depends on who you hang out with. There are some people who do drugs, but there are also the same amount who don't do drugs.

University of Arizona: Dry Campus?

While the university enforces a dry campus policy, it seems many students are reluctant to adhere to this regulation. Drinking is most popular on campus, and it is quite frequently that you will see intoxicated students after sporting events and concerts on campus. Marijuana is another popular drug that gets abused on campus, some students find it clever to smoke in broad daylight at the tables behind some of the dorms. The campus police do their best to catch people not adhering to the policy, but a lot of students manage to slip under the radar.
