College Prowler Take
Say no to drugs. Well, at least say no to the really hard ones. Marijuana seems to make a lot of friends on this campus. Are you going to be one of these friends? Circle one of the following: a) Yes. b) I plan to be a fair-weathered friend. c) No. d) You mean prescription drugs? You don’t have to experiment in college. And many “sober” AU students aren’t deprived or set back in any way. Use your head and make decisions that you’re comfortable with. Otherwise, you’ll end up feeling ripped off. I know someone who knows some drug dealers on campus. I can only talk to her about them in person, and she never uses their actual names. So drugs are on campus, but is anyone seriously shocked here? And it isn’t like I have to step over dirty needles on the way to class or anything. Most drug use takes place off campus and with friends. Some dumb freshmen have tried smoking joints in the dorms, but they’ve gotten busted. Truth be told, I bet a lot of plant seeds are stashed under the pillows of dozens of freshmen living on campus. But I guess we’ll never know.

I don't really notice much of a drug scene, unless you count cigarettes, then those are used here and there by students. Alcohol is the only other real drug noticed by me, and of course no one brings it on campus. Well, maybe they try to sneak it into football games.

Drugs at U of A are a part of campus life. You read it daily in the Wildcat in the police beat section, but I haven't been forced to do anything, and peer pressure just isn't there. Alcohol is really the only "drug" that is obviously abused at our campus.

At the U of A, drugs aren't noticeable on campus. I mean you can tell when people are hungover from a night of partying, and there have been few drug busts, usually marijuana. Adderall is a relatively new drug used often during study times like finals and midterms, and cigarettes are common but not overwhelming. You can see more drinking when you get off campus to the bars on University.

As for the drug scene, many people smoke weed and drink. If you like to smoke good weed, you may be disappointed by the quality. It can be tough to find good stuff. There was also a lot of coke going around this year. Basically, it’s a party school where people go to have fun and get messed up. I pretty much spent my last two years doing just that. If I stay there, I will probably never graduate. So, that’s the main reason I’m leaving. I’m going somewhere where I can focus better. |
