College Prowler Take
I’ve heard from a lot of important big-city people that the Tucson club and music scene sucks. Of course, the kids from Montana are psyched, but they seem to be the only ones. Downtown and Fourth Avenue are weekend hot spots and there are some decent music venues in the downtown area such as the Rialto. And, in the end, the UA always offers some form of high culture entertainment to attend, like poetry reading, concerts, or political forums. I think a lot of guys go to strip clubs in Tucson. I know one guy who took his mom to a nude club when she came down from Washington DC to visit. But there’s a lot to do besides watching topless women or hip-gyrating men; you just have to spend some time making friends and chilling with them. Hanging out is important because it gets you out of the house and away from schoolwork. And that’s important—very important. There are some music venues that are worth checking out, and karaoke is always fun if you have the right guys and girls by your side to laugh at you. Greek parties are synonymous with college, and the same goes for Greek parties at the UA. Traveling to Mexico for a night on the town may get an 18-year-old drunk, but it may also get an 18-year-old jailed, robbed, or beaten. Caution during the planning process of one’s nightlife activities will reduce drunk-driving accidents and sexual assaults. So, plan carefully and be cautious.

Parties on campus don't really exist if you are not in a sorority or fraternity. Off campus is probably a better shot for a good party or bar. My favorite bar is Plush. It's a retro-lounge that has suede and tacky carpet and comfy couches with live music and strong drinks. Also, Vaudeville is fun on certain nights if you want to dance or listen to DJs.

Parties on campus range from Greek parties to Model United Nations parties. They are all fun; just be careful about being to loud because red tags are seen in a ton of my buddies' houses. The bars are on University Boulevard and then on Fourth Avenue. There are lots of good bars that are off the main row like Kon Tiki, The Shelter, Shooters, The Nugget, Club Congress, Vaudville, and The District.

Playboy recently released a list...
Playboy recently released a list of the best party colleges in America. At the top of the list, they had a small note with an asterisk next to it. It said, "This year, we choose not to include the University of Arizona on this list because we do not feel it is fair to include professionals in a list of amatuers." It's the truth---we're just that good at partying. It's a way of life.

Tucson is like a huge village, but there are still plenty of clubs like Cactus Moon or Pearl, where you can dance and drink as long as you're 21.

You’ll find that Gentle Ben’s is a good place to go to drink! Bum Steer on Wednesday nights was always fun last year. All of the bars do have police raids, where they try to get those under 21, so be careful. Make sure you don’t go to Maloney’s, O’Malley’s, or Dirtbag’s without being 21! They tend to be the hardest carders, and they will take your ID if it isn’t real. |
Facts
Organization Parties
Fraternities have events for people who can’t go to the bar, and as long as you have a friend who knows someone in the fraternity, you are let in. Just make sure you don’t show up too wild and crazy because cops do hover around these parties to cite students for MIPs, DUIs, public urination, and disorderly conduct.
