Overall ExperienceWhat's This?

UA is a great school in a chill city that has nice weather and beautiful, beautiful people. You will become attached to it, and it has a sort of "dirty charm" that you'll unexpectedly miss when you leave. Maybe it will be the way cars splash disgusting street water into your face every time it rains, since there are practically no drainage systems in Tucson, and water just sits in dangerously deep pools along the sides of the road. You might find a midnight home along Fourth Avenue, or perhaps it will be vying for couches to sleep on during class breaks. Despite all of the hard times, the UA will become a place that you’ll always remember—for better or for worse.

You will probably eat so many meals in the Student Union Memorial Center that you will see them in your dreams. You will walk the same sidewalks over and over in both the sunshine and in the rain (but mostly the sunshine). You'll have long talks with friends in parking lots. You may read Émile Zola or Charles Darwin for the first time here, rediscover Faulkner in the Modern Languages Building, or pull an all-nighter in the library. The education has definitely taken a steep fall in recent years, but it's nothing that can't still be fixed with some time and appropriate use of tuition money. Yeah, the UA has its many problems, but students don't come here looking for boring perfection. If you want a half-decent education and an interesting experience, you'll get them both at the UA.

Eh - the actual school is not great

I met a lot of cool people here and there are always parties to go to so that's definitely a plus. but the actual school itself is not great. classes are cool but way too crowded or the teachers suck. the good teachers are usually so impersonal because of class size you dont obtain the information. and the small classes have horrible teachers - USUALLY. not always. the counseling for academics or financial aid sucks. they have no idea how to help the students and if they do know how, they do a horrible job at it. they make school way too difficult and stressful.

It’s the best four-year vacation...

It’s the best four-year vacation of your life. I didn’t want to go to school here—I ended up here as a last resort. I say things always happen for a reason, and I truly believe that because of my time in Arizona. I had the best four and a half years of my life, made better friends than I ever imagined, got two awesome degrees, and landed a great job in the end. The weather is perfect, the education is as good as it gets, and the atmosphere is like being away on vacation for the entire college career.
