  • Facebook - We all know what Facebook is, but somehow it has become a verb: "He Facebooked me last night..."

Things I Wish I Knew Before Coming To School

  • Being an "undeclared" freshman isn't that bad. The first two years of school are getting your GenEds out of the way anyway.
  • Construction is a huge inconvenience.
  • Drink lots of water -- you will sweat and get delirious and end up in the hospital from heat exhaustion.
  • It gets HOT.
  • It's faster to ride a bike to get where you need to go.
  • It's important to stay in shape here because it's such hot weather means showing more skin.
  • Make sure you get off at the Prince Road exit of I-10 during construction -- otherwise you could end up in Mexico.
  • Student Union food is expensive.

Tips to Succeed

  • Do all your homework.
  • Go to class no matter what.
  • Go to office hours for your classes; teachers will love you.
  • If you have a midterm or final, don't drink the night before.
  • Manage your time well. You probably won’t wake up for that 8 a.m. class every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
  • Take notes because you never know what’ll pop up on the final or midterm exam.
  • Wear sunscreen; skin cancer kills.

Urban Legends

  • Hopi Lodge is said to be haunted. Someone was murdered here eons ago, and her spirit is supposed to be floating around here still.

Traditions

  • Every fall, the A on A-Mountain is repainted by the freshmen. - A-Mountain
  • Band Day - Band Day is when tons of bands come and play at the UA and show off their skills, it began in 1951 and is still going strong.
  • U.S.S. Arizona Bell - The U.S.S. Arizona bell is rung seven times on the third Wednesday to show gratification to UA and the community.

School Spirit

A red wave floods the stadiums, and that is where the Zona Zoo Wildcat fans are located during games. T-shirts are given to members of Zona Zoo, and fans where them with pride during games. Our bell at noon is the “Bear Down Arizona” song, which in a nutshell shows how obsessed with sports we are here at U of A.
