Lots of variety! If you can think it up, there's a place to cater to your desires!

Arkansas weather is always a toss-up. Generally, however, expect an average of 90 and sunny in the summer, 70's sunny/windy in fall-winter, 40's-50's winter, and 70's in spring... pretty nice overall.

Financial Aid staff on campus helpful and good to answer any questions you may have. The process is quick and they keep things up to date.

Little Rock is not a good place to be at night. Not much to do for underage nightlife. Transportation is below average.
College Senior 2013-04-09T17:27:25Z
Bad weather makes for a difficult time getting to class on time due to the distant from parking to classrooms.

Computer labs are small, printing costs can really add up, wireless access is good and fast but many websites are blocked that really should not be.

Most students and faculty have a 10 minute walk to campus unless an expensive permit is purchased yearly. UAMS does offer a shuttle bus that runs constantly all day.

We have 3 fraternities just within the College of Pharmacy!

The curriculum is challenging without being difficult just for difficulty's sake. All my professors so far have been very open-door.

We have a various range of political views, especially when dealing with the economics of the government. I would say socially we are moderately diverse. Racially, we have some room to grow, but I do not feel that is due to any kind of prejudice.

Little Rock is not a very large town, but it is larger than all the other towns in Arkansas. If you are from AR, Little Rock will feel big. The good news is, there is not a lot of traffic.

Health & Safety:
There are a lot of emergency phones located around campus. There are also several security officers roaming the area at all times.

There is no Greek life at this college that I am aware of

Generally I feel safe on campus, we do have security and police that patrol the area 24/7

Alot in Hospital, Not a Lot in School – We have a moderate amount of diversity. Being in Little Rock, Arkansas and the fact that its a medical school there are a lot of caucasians. UAMS mostly accept arkansas residence so that makes it less diverse. However, if you work at UAMS as a hospital employee you would see an array of cultures and ethnicities

Hard and Challeging but Worth It – UAMS is great. It prepares you for a career in the field you are studying. The classes were hard and challenging and the clinical sites prepared you for the real world. Everyday I thought I wasn't going to make it but when I graduated, I felt well prepared in the work field. It was worth it going to UAMS

Not Many – There are not many avaliable. Which I find surprising being they only except 17 students a year.
College Senior 2012-07-10T16:50:41Z
Drugs and Alcohol Have Not Been an Issue – I have never seen this kind of behavior at UAMS. No one has time to act on this kind of behavior, or at least I don't anyways and my fellow classmates have never spoke of this. UAMS would not tolerate this.

Our weather here isn't very hazardous. However, if it does "snow" or
"ice" we normally have to take a different approach, such as not attending class that day. This isn't a big issue. Tornadoes and such are more of a threat to us than snow or ice.

The shuttle Bus at UAMS is the best option for campus transportation. The bus runs every 15 minutes, so the only thing one may be responsible for is being there on time. However, the police are also on campus and any time you may need them, such as aster dark, they are willing to do anything. UAMS may be strict but they worry about their students and clients and provide whatever they possibly can.

It is a pretty good hike from the free parking lot to campus, but, there are shuttles that run every 15 minutes. So its really not bad, as long as you aren't late!

"The Big City" of the State – Little Rock is our capitol and considered our large city. UAMS is in the heart and close to many attractions like the Little Rock Zoo, Rivermarket, and Clinton Library, as well as beautiful hiking at Pinnacle Mountain. Many people overlook Arkansas but this area truly has some beautiful scenery and isn't too far from two waterparks and the Oaklawn racetrack.

I am enrolled at The University of Arkansas Medical Sciences, College of Nursing. It is very time consuming but well worth it. I love the field that I am in and one day plan on becoming a Nurse Anesthetist. I would recommend not working during the first summer semester to see which suits people better. They try and bog everyone down the first semester so only the people that really try and want it will pass.
College Senior 2012-04-23T17:54:07Z
College of Nursing – This school is very intense at first, but well worth it. It is the best nursing school in the state, and is the hardest. But once you graduate everyone is happy they went to UAMS College of Nursing.

Weather is unreliable in Little Rock. Can walk mostly anywhere inside on campus. Can not miss class, even if snowing, which we don't get much of.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
