Best Things

  • A small fee is added (per credit hour) to every student to bring in one large artist a year for a free concert. Some of the artists in the past have included O.A.R, Dierks Bentley, Third Eye Blind, and T.I.
  • Row Week is a week of large fraternity parties, with a lot of big-name artists playing at the various houses. Artists have included Three 6 Mafia, Lil' Flip, Mike Jones, and Yung Joc.
  • Dickson Street is right next to campus and offers a wide variety of restaurants and bars.
  • All of the tickets for Razorback sports are pretty cheap when compared to other schools. It's only $1 per football game. The games are all fun, especially if the Hogs win.

Overall ExperienceWhat's This?

Sometimes, the first-year experience in the dorm can really depend on the roommate. Roommates can end up in each other's weddings or end up as gossip fodder for friends and classmates. Freshman year can be a little overwhelming. The best thing to do is keep an open mind and remember that everyone else is in the same boat. Students are the master of their own college experience, so they shouldn't just sit in their dorm rooms playing Call of Duty. Joining a fraternity or sorority is one way to meet people. In addition, there are more than 350 registered student organizations on campus; there should be something for everybody, and if not, students can always start their own club. It's easy!

Arkansas will prepare students for whatever major they choose, but once again, this is college. Students are not living in their parents' house anymore; they have to do their own laundry and force themselves to go to class. "Ninety percent of success is showing up," as Woody Allen once said, and this saying applies with going to class. Some teachers keep attendance, but most don't. It's easy to get carried away with the party scene and flunk out, but students who try hard and show up to class will be fine. The University provides everything you could ever need to succeed at your fingertips—you just have to grab it!

It's Part of Everyday Life

Frat life is a big part of our university, so drinking happens every single day. A lot of people smoke marijuana now too. Both of those plus Adderal and other stimulants are readily available for sale and not hard to find.

Arkansas standards

I'm from another state known for its major metropolitan cities. If you're a person like me, you may not be comfortable with the areas and building styles of the apartments. Alot of apartments are nice but situated in sketchy areas. Alot of houses situated in the first mile of the university...the houses look as if they never passed inspection. I'm living on or across the street from campus until I graduate
