Students are required to live on campus their first year, unless they have family already living in the area. Most students live off campus after one or two years. Don't fret; students can still live on campus if they so choose, but there are literally thousands of apartments around the area for students to choose from. Some are close enough to walk to school, which is a huge advantage when considering the price of parking. These aren't the nicest apartments, but students can't beat the location. For students looking for nicer apartments, the Crowne Apartments are really popular and located behind the University's baseball field. There's also Southern View, Hill Place, and the Links, which all have their own perks.

Fayetteville also has plenty of houses to choose from for students. House rent depends on how many roommates split the rent and how close the house is to campus. Students can find a house for under $300 for each roommate, but paying closer to $350 is more common. The largest concentration of students living off campus is probably on Leverett Avenue. The street runs directly to the center of campus and is littered with several neighborhoods and lots of apartments. The Razorback Transit's Blue Route also runs along Leverett every 10 minutes, so students won't need to drive to class.
