Sports are not a huge part of UBC. We have teams but because there are so few surrounding schools, games are rare and news on them can be difficult to come by. There are plenty of independent teams, if you don't want to join varsity, but these are mainly for amusement, though there are competitive games.

There are all sorts of sports and teams at UBC, but the only thing that bothers me is that there is a mandatory fee of almost $200.00 CAD for the athletic facilities whether you use them or not. If you live on campus it is great, though, as you will have access to a public gym, most of the dormitories have a little gym in them too, a pool, skating rink, basketball and tennis courts, and more! There is a lot here. I am taking a once weekly gymnastics class and the building for it is quite nice too.

No School Spirit – UBC is a huge school. Varsity athletics are somewhat of a joke. As an extremely involved student on campus, I have been to one varsity game in four years. The recreational sports on campus, however, are quite large- although they do not create a sense of school spirit the way that varsity athletics do.

Thunderbirds Pride! There's an overall strong school spirit. You see students rockin' Thunderbird gears everyday, and people get stoked over school team victories, but there are definitely people that don't really care. However, everyone's a huge Canuck fan!

Very Athletic – A lot of Athletic centres and places to be active. Competitive sports are very popular and many spend time playing and watching them.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
