City life is pretty vibrant, but it takes 45 minutes to get downtown. There is a good atmosphere at the university itself, but mostly Frat parties and they are not great

Vancouver is an incredible city. UBC, although somewhat isolated from the city itself, is still very close, and it is not at all hard to get around using only public transportation. The adjacent Kitsilano district contains some amazing dining in almost any style you could want. Downtown has even more options for dining, there are also many places for good shopping and incredible bars and clubs. In terms of sports Vancouver hosts the Vancouver Canucks, the BC Whitecaps, and the BC Lions, all of which are great games to watch. There are a host of parks, beaches, and great hikes, including Stanley Park, Pacific Spirit (Directly adjacent to UBC), nearby Grouse Mountain, and the world famous Whistler Blackcomb ski destination a short bus ride north. The local residents tend to be very friendly towards students, and you'll often find families from the city on campus going to the beachs or the Museum of Anthropology.

I attend UBC Okanagan, the smaller UBC campus and I love it! It's just outside the city of Kelowna but you feel right at home. The small campus offers smaller class sizes, closer relationships with the professors and not intimidating feel. The campus is clean and inviting with a bus stop right out front with a wide selection of buses visiting there almost all the time.

Many people love Vancouver; I find it a bit boring but it is still nice. People in the city and campus alike are extremely friendly and helpful; shopping malls and downtown are just 40 or so minutes away by bus. There are many mountains nearby for snowboarding and skiing and a beach is located just down some steps on campus (although the weather is too cold throughout most of the year to enjoy it much). There are many great sports on campus, my favorites being skating, gymnastics and tennis. There are many other popular colleges around UBC so you can meet students from there as well, such as arts and media institutes and other universities.

Place of Leisure Life – Vancouver is a big urban city with lots of malls, restaurants and attractions that are great for leisure and diversity. Situated in West Vancouver is the University of British Columbia occupying the sacred land of the musqueam tribe.
