Vancouver is a big city with lots of off-campus housing options for students. There is good public transportation and many parts of town are well-serviced by bus lines that head to campus. The major downside is that the cost of living is very high here and finding suitable affordable housing can be a challenge.

Anyone who attends UBC Okanagan and wants to live off campus tries to get a place in Rutland. Rutland is the cheaper part of Kelowna with convenient bus routes. Finding a nice place in Rutland can be challenging, but when you find that gem everyone will be jealous! Typically, the cost of living is a little high but a roommate is the best way to go to split the rent. Rutland especially has lots of police patrolling the streets, take it how you want, but I feel very safe knowing a police officer is somewhere nearby!

Many Opportunities, Have to Look for Them Though – Off-campus housing in UBC comes in many shapes, colors and prices. If you take time to search using multiple sources, you will find a house that will suit all your need. It is always wise to be looking for a house with a friend or two though,

Nearly no one lives on campus. Off campus is expensive and inconvenient. Most people have to live in basement suites, that are pricey, that are at least 30 mins from school. Just a bad situation because on campus housing is not very affordable either. Its a very expensive area, so living costs like food are costly as well.

Basement Suites Are the Trend – At UBC Vancouver, if you're planning on living off-campus, you'll most likely find a basement suite in a regular household with a regular family living above you. Personally, I'd rather be able to see the sun (when it's out!) and not have to worry about waking the family above me with drinking and friends. No worries finding one as there are plenty, and the pricing is not horrible and pretty close (average 10-20 minute bus ride) to campus.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
