Social Scene
While some students are definitely outgoing, the campus tends to be more relaxed. Strangers can have extended conversations with one another, and everyone has an opinion about everything. It is common to see groups of friends sitting on the grass, talking, sometimes with cigarettes or a guitar.
Hookups or Relationships?
Hookups are most prevalent, but casual relationships are not uncommon. Many students don't have time for a serious relationship and choose to date people who live outside of Berkeley.
Best Places to Meet Guys/Girls
Students tend to think about school and work during the day, so it's not until going out with friends that they engage with new people. Most of the time, this is at the local bars, parties, or through other friends. Some students meet during class, but this rarely develops into anything more than flirting.
Dress Code
American Apparel and Urban Outfitters are the two popular stores near campus. Most people enjoy the indie look, with mismatched colors, flowing fabrics, and skinny jeans. Still, a lot also prefer T-shirts, jeans, and flip-flops, or work-out clothes. Most girls don't wear makeup, and many don't style-or brush-their hair.
