The majority of students are satisfied with the food on campus, but as usual, being away from home-cooked meals can leave some students desiring mom’s cooking. The Silo is popular, with basics such as Taco Bell, Carl’s Jr., and Pizza Hut, plus Stock Pot soups, Sub City sandwiches, Crepeville, and Café Fresca salads, sushi, parfaits, wraps, and sandwiches. You will also find organic frozen food meals, which are also available at the Silo. Students rave about the convenience of Aggie Cash—prepaid dollars on student accounts that allows them to swipe meals at the Silo and other restaurants downtown.
The dorm food at Davis is not your typical “dorm” food—it is definitely above par when compared to other typical cafeteria-style dormitory dining commons elsewhere. There's a vast variety of tasty meals. The dining commons (DC) are convenient and offer a plethora of options, especially when compared to the other UC campuses. For the unadventurous DC diner, cereal, salad, and the sandwich bar may prove to be dietary staples. The dining commons have plenty of vegetarian and vegan selections, and some theme nights, such as Indian, Caribbean, and Korean, that students seem to enjoy. Whatever the dining commons lack in their entrées, they make up with their desserts. With frozen yogurt and at least five desserts to choose from, Davis students always end their meals on a good note.

Bad
I used to go to school in LA and the dining there is really cool out there. But when I came to UC Davis I found the dining here is terrible, just pizza and some bunch of junk food, other than that nothing special. I really dont like the dining here.

Pretty Good
The dining commons are pretty good, but they do get old after a while. They're attempts at "theme nights" are obnoxious, but those are relatively infrequent. The Silo has some fast food places, but they're overpriced and give you less food. The CoHo is great because it's student run and has no chain restaurants; you can get a huge burrito for under $4!

DC
The dining halls at UC Davis provides a decent variety of food as well as alternatives to what the menu offers on a daily basis. To help students and guests control what they eat instead of pigging out all the time the DC offers vegetarian and vegan options. If you are in a rush you can swipe a small meal at the mini marts at each dorm location. My favorite dining common for breakfast is Tercero but the other meals I prefer to eat at Segundo.
