Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Segundo is designed like a typical dorm—one to three students live in one room and use communal bathrooms, which is how students usually get to know everyone. Tercero is set up similarly, but the buildings are in close proximity to the cows, and some complain about the smell. Still, students point out that Tercero has a better dining commons. Cuarto is suite-style—more like apartments. Each suite houses 5–10 people and has their own bathrooms, which are nice. Students are expected to clean them and supply the toilet paper.

Davis dorms are set up differently to accommodate students’ different living styles, and picking a favorite just depends on what’s important to you. If you want to meet a ton of people, Segundo may work for you. If you want to meet a ton of people, eat better food, and don’t mind when windy days blow "eau de cow"in your direction, pick Tercero. If you want to make a few close friends and a lot of acquaintances, a small suite in Cuarto would work. If you’re aiming to make a ton of really close friends, but not too many acquaintances, a big suite in Cuarto would suit you well. No matter what, though, students agree that the dorms provide a once-in-a-lifetime experience that no student should miss.

Living Inside the DORMS!

Well personally when I first arrived to the dorms I was expecting complete chaos just like the way I have seen in the movies. It is actually a little less intense that what is shown. The people in my dorm are friendly because it is a Latino/Latina themed dorm, so it is different than the other dorms. The worst thing is probably the bathrooms because they are limited and people aren't comfortable with one another so it makes things a bit awkward when someone has explosive diarrhea. The process of knowing where you want to live is fairly simply because it is like taking a survey so it meets what you want and accommodates to your needs. I like the RA's they are friendly and like a brother and sister far beyond what is asked of them. They go above and are always helping the students.

Dorm Life Is the Best!!

The freshman dorms are the best place to meet people and make new friends! There are three different areas for dorms, and I have to say that Segundo is the best! All of the dorms are located near a dining commons and a convenient store for snacks. The scenery is amazing and you'll love the atmosphere at any housing area you choose.

Did You Know?

In an attempt to help students live with like-minded people, Davis has developed specialty programs that groups students of common interests in the same dorm. There are more than 10 specialty programs, ranging from Outdoor Experience to the Quiet Program, Music Arts and Performance to the Health Sciences. Students select their specialty programs separately from their dorm choices, and the programs have priority. For example, if you state that you wish to participate in the International Relations program (located in Regan Hall) but want to live in the Cuarto dorms, you will most likely be assigned to Regan Hall. This is important to keep in mind when filling out housing papers.
