Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Davis students are far from overwhelmed by the drug scene. With zero-tolerance policies for drugs and alcohol on campus, students find it easy to avoid exposure to the underground network of alcohol and illegal substances. Considering the enormity of the student body, Davis’ drug problem can practically be considered non-existent.

Not counting coffee or alcohol, the most popular Davis drug is definitely marijuana. Cigarettes are also a common sight, but weed seems to be slightly more popular. That said, it’s a very subjective situation: drugs (both legal and illegal) are easy to get and easy to stay away from. It’s just a matter of getting to know like-minded people.

Drugs and Alcohol

I know a few people who smoke weed but that is the only drug i have witnessed. There is alcohol available and the school does a strict rule against. I have a friend who was caught with alcohol and they were good at handling the situation. For sure if you get caught with alcohol they will NOT go easy on you if you get caught again.

Policy Enforcement

UC Davis is not a dry campus which means any one who is 21 years or older can have alcohol. However, the alcohol policy in the dorm rooms and at parties are strictly enforced for anyone who is not 21 years of age. The University Police Department is also looking into setting a "law" here in Davis to be able to drug/alcohol test anyone after certain hours if they look suspicious.

Nearly Nonexistent

I think its awesome that drugs are not a big part of the Davis campus. If you don't want to be a part of that culture, you don't have to be. It's that simple here. There are people who use for sure, but dorms are pretty good at enforcing the no drugs policy and it isn't hard to get away from it if it's bothering you.
