Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Overall, students seem very impressed with the facilities on campus. Most students rave about the ARC, the student union (MU), computer labs, and libraries. Besides being pleased with the quality of the facilities, students are also grateful for the accessibility. The options are there and plentiful, and students are nothing but satisfied.

While UC Davis students enjoy many top-notch facilities, one establishment is particularly renowned. The Shields Library is one of the largest libraries nationwide. It provides a place for students to study (alone or with a study group), cram for midterms, and of course, sleep. With 3.24 million library volumes, Shields is a priceless resource for students to utilize for both academic reasons and leisurely reading.

Green and Modern

The campus itself is lovely. It is well manicured, clean, colorful and earthy. There are trees everywhere and is definitely not a pavement wasteland like some other schools. Some may argue that the buildings, although quite impressive, are so modern that they lack character. Its a modern campus (in a tasteful way) - but because of this we do not lack on amenities and functionality. Also, much of our buildings are super eco friendly.

Will Never Run Out of Things to Do!

The campus is really big, and so there's a couple of student centers and libraries. Actually, a new one just opened up this quarter. The building is very nice, and it's huge! There's a food court the students call the "Coho", where they sell pizza, burritos, salads, sushi, and other stuff. Students work there and there are many tables and chairs within the building. There is also a "quad" or a big patch of grass next to the bookstore where fairs are held. You can also relax on the grass or hang out with your friends there. We also have a gym, were you can lift weights, run on treadmills, take dance classes, play badminton, play basketball, rock-climb...the list goes on and on!

Favorite Things To Do

Students can do a number of things like enjoy the live bands that play in the quad, study or take a stroll in the Arboredum, or work out at the Rec Hall, Rec Pool, or ARC. They can meet up with friends for lunch at the Coffee House, use their meal plan at the Silo, take a breather in the MU courtyard or student lounge, and visit the art at the MU Art Gallery. Students play Frisbee in the quad, check out the merchants outside the bookstore, or go bowling at the MU Bowling Alley. Students study, nap, or sunbathe in the quad. And you can play air-hockey or pool in the underground gaming area.
