Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

When asked to describe the girls and guys on campus, it’s interesting to note that the majority of Davis students respond with appreciative comments based on personality. Though many are quick to point out the merits of bike riding and free gym access, they also clarify that the personalities and attitudes of the students far outshine the physical appearances. Many  admit that the people could be slightly better looking, but no one seems unsatisfied with what the campus has to offer.

Still, with California weather and an inherently active lifestyle, Davis students are pretty good-looking. Students are open-minded and friendly, and with a large student body, you’re bound to find someone who interests you.

Fashion

Depending if students rushed to class or took their time, the students dress from a wide variety from casual to semi-formal. The Aggie showcase the fashionable students in popular garb for the season. Students express themselves with what they're wearing, so sometimes the bright red hair pops out from among the crowd of proud yellow-blue Aggies.

Not Sure

There really is no real answer to this question because everyone has their own tastes for guys and girls. So depending on the person, I cannot tell whether guys and girls are hot.

Everyone You Meet Is Nice

Every guy and girl I have met while at UC Davis has been nice and helpful, especially when I was a freshman at school, anyone who I asked for directions was kind and pointed me in the right direction. In terms of looks, dress, social life, etc, I find that a large majority of students are asian and the other large portion are white/caucasian. Everyone attending Davis is exceptionally smart, goal focused, and determined to earn a quality education.

How would you rate the social scene on campus?

Facts

Social Scene

Davis is known for its friendly, laid-back campus. The fraternities and sororities tend to have their own social agendas, but there really is no social hierarchy. Students have no reservation in mixing with crowds of different majors, ethnicities, or social circles. Davis is relatively "clique free," and most people are always eager to make new friends.

Hookups or Relationships?

In the beginning of school, it's not uncommon to see all the freshmen randomly hooking up in an insane dating mob, but that begins to die quickly once the excitement of being on your own isn't so new anymore. After a while, students meet people in their classes, at parties, on sports teams, interest groups, at work, or through other friends. They meet new people every day. Davis is known for its friendly campus, and all it takes to meet someone is a simple glance up from studying, eye contact, and a smile.

Best Places to Meet Guys/Girls

Being the academic institution that it is, Davis keeps students pretty busy with finals every 10 weeks. That said, they still find plenty of time to socialize, and it's not uncommon for students to hook up with someone they meet in class, a study group, or at the library. However, those students who want more of a distinction between their academic and romantic lives won't be too hard-pressed—there are plenty of weekend parties that draw crowds of singles.

Dress Code

With a laid-back atmosphere, there really is no dress code. Students dress according to the weather rather than according to the trends, and they seem to prefer clothes that are easy to bike in. On campus, students can be seen in everything from flip-flops to stilettos to cowboy boots, or whatever else they happen to throw on in the morning. Overall, it's a pretty casual campus. Jeans and T-shirts are more common sights than polo shirts and slacks. But with Davis's diversity, it's not uncommon to see leather jackets, suspenders, Caesar-style sandals, and long flowing skirts—all in the same outfit.
