College Prowler Take

For students under 21, the nightlife experience at Davis consists of frat and house parties. While sufficient for the first few years, that scene tends to get old by the time students are living off campus and are old enough to drink. Unfortunately, Davis hardly offers a kicking bar scene, and it’s not exactly considered a hot spot for clubs or dance clubs, either. Although not overly stifled by the small suburban atmosphere, students say the night scene leaves much to be desired. They are less than impressed with the bars, and with only one club in town, it’s not surprising that many get antsy. Still, considering Davis’ small size, the clubs and bars are decent. To keep things fresh and entertaining, many have theme nights that manage to keep the atmosphere not so stagnant.

Luckily, Davis’ neighbor city, Sacramento, offers many convenient options for students looking for more action. With clubs like the Rage and 815 Street, most students are easily satisfied by Sacramento’s variety. For those who are hard to please or just truly desperate, San Francisco is also another entertaining option.

The bars are a huge scene in Davis. This is especially true from the Greek point of view. There isn’t much to do in Davis, so the four bars in town are the big hit on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights. They are nothing special if you have been to clubs and bars from big cities, but they are the most entertaining places to be in Davis.

There is lot of stuff you can do at Davis, such as hang out with friends, go to dorm parties, play beer pong with closet door, go to house parties, go bowling, or go to Sac or SF for clubbing. There are always some frat parties that you can go to and have a good time. Davis also has some free movie nights in Chem 194 or Science Lecture Hall.

There is a good selection of bars but nothing compared to a larger city. Going to Sacramento for clubs and bars would be your best bet, and it is not that far way.

There are no real clubs or bars to get excited about. The Grad is fairly entertaining. I go there salsa night (Thursdays). Most students don’t depend on downtown Davis for entertainment, yet we remain entertained.

In Davis, we have a really good club called the Grad; it also has some good food. Most people on go on Wednesday or Thursday because that is the good music night. The other nights are salsa or country. We have many bars in Davis.
