School Spirit
Davis has such inspiring school spirit! Besides packing the stadium for football games, hanging out on Picnic Day, and plastering the UC Davis logo over much of their clothing, Davis students show school pride in the support they show for each other. Plays on campus are often sold out, wild and screaming fans attend nearly every sporting event, and student clubs thrive off of the initiative of the student body. There is an abundance of school spirit. Students cheer for just about anything, unless of course, they decide to protest it. Incidentally, Davis students are known for their spirited picket lines, boycotts, and sit-ins. Campus bulletin boards are feathered with flyers advertising different protests—everything from the increased student fees, to Proctor and Gamble’s animal testing, to the mobilization of troops. Generally, UCD students are very informed about issues they feel strongly about, and they don’t hesitate to share their views. Students are loud and proud, and though there are occasional discrepancies between students, all perspectives are usually heard and respected.
